Where is the thermal fuse located on this dryer? please

Hello Leslie

I don't know what is the brand of you dryer. I will make you a preference this brand.

In GE dryers, the thermal fuse--sometimes called a safety thermostat--is located behind the drum on the inside of the dryer. To access the thermal fuse you will need to open the dryer from the top. Though it may sound a bit daunting, opening the top of the dryer to reveal its inner workings is surprisingly simple. To open the dryer top you will need a flat-head screwdriver, putty knife or similar tool. Insert the screwdriver or putty knife underneath the dryer's top panel. Slide the putty knife along the bottom of the panel until you locate the two clips that hold it in place. These clips are usually located about four inches in from either side of the top dryer panel. Apply pressure to the clips to release them. Once the clips have been released, lift up the top panel and use the supports to keep it upright. Look inside the dryer, behind the drum, to find what looks like a round metal pan. This metal pan is actually the dryer's heating element housing. The thermal fuse will be located next to the heating element housing. Look for a white strip with two wires connected to it and you've located the thermal fuse in your GE dryer.

Drum hitting dryer top

Sounds like the bearing seals may be getting worn. You will need to open the top of the dryer and look for wear marks.

How do I open the case on a GE dryer?

Of corse there is some variation among different GE models, but in general there will be one of two methods. Disconnect from power, then: 1. Open door and look for screws from top area of front panel into the dryer top to allow top to open, which in turn allows front panel to be removed. 2. If no screws, then use a putty knife to push in on the two clips which secure the top to the front panel. (right in the seam, front panel to dryer top, a couple inches in from each side.)

The belt goes on around the drum from the front.

Unplug the cord of the dryer before starting.

Raise top by placing a putty knife between top and front in the seam between the two about 2 inches in from each edge and lifting up at the same time. Raise top to full open position.

Look down inside the open top dryer at each side there will be a screw on each side a few inches down. Leaning against the front remove the two screw and pull the top forward a few inches and raise it from the supports at bottom then swing it aside protecting any wiring.

This will give you access to the underside of the dryer.

Reverse the disassembly process to reassemble the front and top being careful not to disconnect any wiring.

One of the 3 arm or flip in dryer is very loose

Remove the top of the dryer by removing the four screws in the back. the entire top should slide forward an inch allow you to lift and pivot the top off to the side. it will not come off entirely because of electrical wires. with that moved off to the side you should see the top of the drum. reach in the front door of the dryer and rotate the drum so that the loose blade is at the top. in that position you should be able to tighten the screws.

Can't open the dryer to check the belts. Where are the screws to view the motor?

OK. There is only one belt. To open the dryer, pull forward on the TOP of the dryer at the corners. You may have to open the lint filter cover and remove 2 screws holding the lint filter guide in place.

The top is held in place by two clips that, when you pull forward on the top, will release. Pull forward and lift up. I always put a knee up right below the top in the center to aid in making sure the dryer doesn't move when pulling on the top.

The top will then lift up from the front tilting backwards.

Where do I find the heating element in my hotpoint dryer

Heating element is behind the drum. Disconnect power. Use putty knife to release 2 spring clips holding top at front edge of dryer. Swing top back. Remove two screws holding dryer front to sides near open top. Swing dryer front to the side. (you don't have to disconnect the door switch wires) Remove plastic tub block at top center of opening. Release belt. Pull up on back of drum, then pull drum out through the open front of dryer.
