The plastic strips are for the bassinet and not required for the chair.

Can I get hold of a bean bag chair that is waterproof? I don't mind paying quite a bit for it if it's good quality.

At the LujoLiving site they have bean bag chairs that are designed to withstand all sorts of weather conditions. They are not cheap chairs but they do look pretty slick. http://www.lujoliving.com/outdoor-beanbags/ The chillaxx site also has an outdoor range; http://www.chillaxx.co.uk/pages/outdoor-bean-bags

I want to buy a high chair cover / pad for my grandaughter's new high chair but I want something a bit different. I don't mind paying more for it. Where should I look?

Have you tried the Etsy site? They have some really nice stuff - not the cheapest that's for sure, but definitely a bit different. This link shows a pink paisley design that I thought was gorgeous.

What are the advantages of wood high chairs?

Wooden high chairs are often more sturdy than plastic ones. They also don't break as easily. It's really hard for even a very destructive child to do much damage to a thick-legged wooden high chair.
I also think wooden high chairs just look so much nicer than the plastic ones and you don't' stick out against the decor of your kitchen.

I know I want to buy a classic wooden high chair for my little girl but I don't really know what factors to take into consideration. Can anyone be of assistance?

I would be more than happy to help. When buying a classic high chair it is important to focus on the basics. Is the chair comfortable? Most high chairs come with a cushioned seat. Is it durable? Since most are made from wood/plastic it will most likely be durable. What kind of portability will this high chair offer? Some high chairs are designed to fold up for easy storage. How easy is it to clean? Most classic high chairs have vinyl seats allowing ease when it comes time to clean up. Last and most important, is it safe?

Just sits and shudders when you push any button except the up and down button

HI, mine started doing the shuddering. It would roll OK, but shudder when the massage part kicked in. I took it apart. There is a plastic gear on the shaft at the bottom of the massage motor. It has a broken tooth. I called the support number for human touch: (800) 355-2762 and they only sell all the mechanical guts as a package for $125.00. I'm still looking for just the gear but am having no luck.
