Question about Artronix Technology Firewire 1394B (pci1394b3) Port Expansion Cards

1 Answer

1934 installation problem

I?m trying to install the firewire and keep getting code 10. I?ve tried reformatting, changing slots? tried everything. It?s always the same- code 10. I?ve searched the internet and found that it?s a common problem but haven?t found a solution. Please if you can help? I bought a new camera and I can?t enjoy it.

I have no magic solutions for this problem, and I?m guessing you?ve already tried what I?m going to suggest, but if not maybe you should try that: 1. are you using a laptop? The card you?re using might be a Cardbus, which usually isn?t supported by laptops because of BIOS settings. 2. It might also be a driver problem. Disconnect the card, remove it, remove the drivers. Restart the computer and reinstall the drivers. Turn the computer off. Reconnect the card and only then turn the computer on again. Wait a few minutes (sometimes it takes a few minutes for the computer to recognize new software). I don?t know if it would work, but it?s worth giving a shot.

I'm going to assume you are trying to install a Firewire adapter card.

They make Firewire adapter cards that fit a long white PCI slot, on the motherboard,

,and a Firewire adapter card that fits a PCI-Express x1 slot,

[NOTE* Color of connector does NOT matter. Blue, Black, Pink with Yellow polka dots............doesn't matter ]

Do I assume you have the PCI-Express x1 version, and there is no PCI-Express x1 slot on the motherboard?

You are also having problems opening the cover, that keeps the brackets of add-on expansion cards in place.

How about posting the Model Number of the Gateway Desktop PC?
This is found on the back of the desktop computer, next to the Windows product key; or up on the side of the computer tower.

Post back in a Comment.

I will look to see how to open that cover, and what expansion slots you have on your motherboard. Then post back in a Comment.

Hi, I've always been able to connect my Canon MV4i MC camcorder to my computer (Windows XP) via the Firewire port. However, I've just bought a new computer (Windows 7) which has no Firewire port....

Why have you bought a 'new' computer with such an outdated operating system ? Have you an available expansion slot on the motherboard to install a Firewire card ?

Im having problems downloading onto my XP laptop from my drv - trv30e handycam. i plugged the firewire into the camera and laptop correctly but its not even picking it up.

turn it on ...and after you plug it on try to look for it manually into the device manager ...if you find it in yellow it means that you have to install the driver ...other solution is to run from the control panel the add new hardware wizard ...and choose already added but not install ..and it will find it ...then go for the installing from the disc or folder..
if it doesnt sees it ...it might be the lack of the IEEE 1934 driver ...also known as firewire ....or geryhownd..or I-link ...in linux or mac...

Problems with EliteGroup ECS A780GM-A (V1.1), a PCI firewire board plugged in a unused slot won't works well. Windows XP recognizes board and installs driver but cannot initialize it and reports error 10....

Hi there.
Error 10 means that the device cannot start.
This can be because the card itself is faulty or you have installed the wrong drivers for it.
Try to locate and install the drivers for it manually and see if it starts then.

Good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa!!

How to connect SDR-H18 to IEEE-1934 port

I had a look and it looks like a regular mini usb cable that you need to connect to your laptop, or a regular mini firewire cable, both are available online for under $10 or at a local electronics store

Think pad wireless card

You may try the following:

1) Plug the wireless card on another slot
2) Update the drivers of the wireless card

If those does not work, you may try to install the wireless card on another computer just to isolate if the problem is on the wireless card or on the slot of the computer
