Question about Symantec AntiVirus 10 with Groupware Protection Business Pack for PC

Antivirus failure Recently the Symantec icon disappeared during a restart and Microsofts firewall tells me that theres no antivirus installed. I manually execute the program after turning on, and also update through the program site. Any help would be appreciated.

If you installed any program during this period or did any changes to the windows files, you might have caused a conflict that corrupted the anti virus files. Try uninstalling the antivirus and any recent installations and reinstalling the antivirus. Then update through the net update. Good luck.

I have sold, installed and maintained Symantec products for two decades now. I am sad to say it has become a terrible company that makes and repackages terrible products. Symantec was completely hacked a few years ago with all source code stolen and, recently, Symantec/Norton antivirus have removed themselves from all independent product testing because it makes them look bad. They only allow companies that can be paid to provide positive survey results, like Gartner Group, to review their products. I will never again trust Symantec to protect my computer or my clients' computers which includes shredding files. For what it is worth, I have moved all my clients to Kaspersky. Check out for unbiased reviews of antivirus/security products. Symantec disappeared from this review site a few years ago after consistently finishing near the bottom of the list. Even the free antivirus that comes with Windows, Windows Defender, beat out Symantec when they were being tested.

However, that doesn't help you shred files so here's my pick for that task:

Lets fix this problem with a remote assistance?By the way if you cant see the icon on your desktop go into the program folder of your c-drive and open the folder of your antivirus.

Symantec norton antivirus computer won't download the disc. computer says the systems needs to be modified

I changed my mother board & now my antivirus is not working

Hi there. The first thing you should do, is completely remove Norton Antivirus from your system, using the Norton Removal Tool from Symantec.

You can download it from their website here:

You will need to write down your product key. If you follow the instructions on the above link, it will tell you where to find it.

Once you have removed Norton, restart your system and re-install Norton. This should solve the problem.

Update problem with symantec antivirus

Close the antivirus program and reopen it. When it isclosed, the icon yellow for norton will not appear on bottom right hand side along with volume icon etc. You may also restart the computer to see id that helps. Right click the Norton icon and see id it says ENABLE AUTOPROTECT or DISABLE AUTOPROTECT. Try enabling.Try the same update after a while. If that does not work, try reinstalling Norton. I get 100s of viruses from 100s of friends and all sorts of things happen to me anti virus etc
but I am told that pretty normal

My antivirus seems to be working against me!!!

Are you logged into a Windows profile w/ Administrator privileges?

If not, change your user profile rights to Administrator (from another Administrator profile).

If the problem persists, enter Safe Mode and try enabling and disabling NAV (Norton Antivirus) from there.

If the problem still persists, you may have picked up a virus that disabled your AV software. You can go HERE if you like to perform an online AV scan. There are other sites as well that will do this for you. Just perform a search engine search on "Online AV Scan".

School - antivirus and teaching/class management system.

symentec antivirus are quite slow if you can download other antivirus ,or pause the symantec process when you want to run any other application ,see that whether your antivirus is not affected from virus
