-   I've got a sold amber light after a total freeze up on my computer. tried restarting to no avail... pulled video card didnt change anything. I get the keyboard check and hard disk spin but no video and its not completing the boot (no bios beeps as there is no internal speaker) i found a refurbished motherboard here:
any suggestions (this rebuild would cost me $190 plus shipping) what do you think?

-   I had just cleaned the fans (power supply and processor) of my optiplex GX260 PC. I started it the first and it worked well. I then restarted and changed the hard disk. It just stalled. When I opened I observed an orange/amber light that comes on and just stays on. But nothing else works. HELP!-   Guest
workaround - i have the same problem with my dell gx260 but have a work around. unplug the power cord and let the unit sit for about 2 minutes. if you open the case you will see a large yellow led light on the motherboard. wait for the light to go out then plug the unit back in and power up. this works most every time on my machine but occassionally i need to repeat it.
i suspect it is the power supply not powering the hard disks and not a problem with the motherboard.
1st remove all PCI cards, see if anything changes. If no change\:
If the power LED is solid AMBER, replace the motherboard
If Flashing AMber, replace the power supply

same thing.. The mouse seems to lock either on or off. and sometimes the left and right clicks reverse outputs. i figured it was some type of interference. Checking my task manager i started trying to turn a few applications off 1 by 1. i've discovered the wireless router seems to be causing the problem. As soon as it's disconnected, it works fine. and soon enough.. a few days later it's back to the same thing again. i've tried 2 different routers/adapter brands. Airlink 100 g router and adapter, and my newest. D-Link 615 (N-router)& 542(adapter-N). Could it be a compatability issue with newest windows updates.

I get the video adapter error when trying to install the software for Digital Arts studio Fisher Price. I have called the support desk 3 times and emailed once to no avail very very unhelpful to say the least. All my drivers are up to date my system meets the requirements and still it wont work. Help any ideas as to what driver it is looking for and how i can install it and make it compatible. I have had this thing for almost 2 weeks and my 4 yr old is very annoyed that it wont work.

I just wanted to tell you I learned somthing today and it made me feel so dumb. I took out the video card and pluged it to the onboard, then booted it up and WOW it worked. Then all I had to do was go to dell and download, and BAM it cleared up the picture. Many thanks to you for your great knowlage and wizdom..Royboy
