If the connector needing repair is in the side of the GPS unit, it would have to go back to the factory. If it is just the cable connector for power from cigarette lighter or the 120 adapter, those parts are also available at Magellan.

My garmin nuvi 200 motherboard power connet part separate how can i fix? and buying new board?

The connector may be able to be resoldered to the board but needs to be done by a professional. Yes, you can replace the board but you will lose all of your favorites and maps going with a new board.

The USB power connector is a weak point with this unit. They can break easily. Remember that a new board will have the same design flaw.

The correct way to deal with this problem is to repair the connector and reinforce the mechanical connection to the board so it will not break in the future.

If it turns on at all it will turn off within about 30 seconds

Before we proceed any further, can you give me the make and model of the device? Please do not rate the solution yet! I need that info to troubleshoot..

Cheers!

Main wiring loom lost for my system. it has a 6 pin plastic connector. what do each of the 6 pins do ?? i have a connector but dont want to blow it up.. thanks Richard

You've failed to tell me the GPS device name/make/model. I can't find you a pinout diagram without this information.
However, Provided you connect the six wires in the same fashion as the old one, you'll be just fine. Chances of anything blowing up are very slight (unless you stash your plastic explosives in your gps unit) The six cables are nothing more than power, ground, and data.

I'm looking to purchase replacement power jack (the power jack mounted on system board) for magellan maestro 4040. where can i purchase only the jack.

this is very common problem with this and many model magellans.

the following magellan 2000, 2200t, 2500, 3000, 3100, 3140, 4000, 4040, 4050 and the 6000 are known to have faulty dc connectors...if your magellan gps is not charging or will not power up, its most likely the dc power port...

you can get help to repaired it, here
or buy the port here

if you need further help, just let me know.

Intellinav

If it won't charge from mains or car adapter that does suggest a physical problem, try removing and re-seating the battery if it's accessible and try blowing or vacuuming out the power socket on the device to clear any dust/fluff.
Absolutely no chance what so ever of giving you any service information or numbers as you have not mentioned where you are in the world or indeed what model Intellinav device you have, however you can find warranty servicing information on Intellinav's website: http://www.intellinav.com/

Opening the case to repair broken power connector

FIRST FAIR WARNING: This take apart is best left to the repair tech's at an authorized repair facility. There are 6 snaps, two on the top, two on the bottom and one on eash side. I used a thin blunt tip letter opener and started at the top. This didn't leave any marks on the case that would tip off the repair tech's that you goobered it up inside which you will do if you proceed! Release the two at the top first, then the two on the bottom. Now release the one on the side where the power button is located. Open the case on the power button side only about 1/4 inch and slide the bottom off the top being careful not to separate the power cord and headphone connector plugs from the board that they a fastened to inside the case. SECOND FAIR WARNING: It is very easy to pull the connector plugs from the board and this will really convince the repair tech's that you ruined your $350 GPS. Good luck and don't say I didn't warn you!!!!!!

Power pin fell off inside of Magellan Roadmate 3000T

I managed to solder my connector back in place. The ground trace broke away from the board so I had to install a jumper to ground. I put RTV on the connector to secure it after the repair.
Worked great for a few weeks until it was dropped again and lost power, something else has a broken connection.

Garmin repair facility in Orange County

  • Find a decent electronic repair facility. I usually super glue the broken mini USB connector to the circuit board and then solder the four support legs of the USB connector. Then there are 5 pins on the USB connector which must be solder back to the circuit board. The two outer pins supply power to the I3 and the remainin inner pins are for data. If this is a recent purchase (less than a year) then I would call Garmin. Good luck.
