The thing that will give inside it with some liquid substance will be the electrolytic capacitor, corrosion, or thermal grease with a milky substance. Or some insect or lizard.
If the tv not blinking, a high probability of your power section is also cut off, check if fuse is busted. If busted, check the whole power section for defective component. You should at least have standby power, then also check the high voltage section for any possible defect.
jdosk-the high pitch noise you hear is generally from the horizontal output being shorted, the horizontal output is usually near the flyback transformer, get a digital multimeter to checkthis part.Let me know I'll try to help. cooltek Feb.16/08
One of the major problems with the electronic items is the aging of components. i think the components in your TV have aged quite a bit. you can of course repair your TV sir. But it will only be a stop gap arrangement. There is no guarantee that the problem won't reoccur. Also the amount you spend for repairing the TV can be spent for buying a new one. my recommendation is that Go for a new TV with latest features that will serve you in a longer run
Hi, tubes getting tired, band-aid fix you can do is remove back of set and turn up(clockwise) the screen control( small black plastic control mounted on side of flyback transformer, do not turn the knob marked focus) until you see a whole bunch of white lines across the screen, then turn same control counter-clockwise until all the lines go away, try several different channels to be sure all the retrace lines are gone, you`ll get up to 1 year more use out of it, than she`s done, good luck, BMW Rider
From your description of the problem, there seems to be a Cold solder in the Vertical Oscillator or Deflection Coil circuits. If you know Solid State electronics, and are good with a soldering Iron, sure u can do this yourself. U
gotta trace the Vertical section components and locate the cold solder.
In most cases it will be a loose connector from the Deflection coil to
the main PCB.Also check for the soldering of the Vertical output IC.
You can check out this great site,http://myweb.accessus.net/~090/sonyadj.html If the service mode does not correct your problems, you will need to replace or if your not experienced with solid state electronics, have a tech replace the STK convergence IC's. Good Luck
