I think the lower part of the rear fender will come off. On the earlier models it would. It's called a "mud guard" or "splash guard". Of course, you'll have to remove the rear wheel to get to the screws.

Need to replace starter in a 2009 harley davidson softail heritage

You will really need a service manual on this. Remove seat. Remove battery. Remove exhaust system. Drain and remove oil tank. Remove starter leads. Remove starter. Replace. Reinstall above in reverse order of disassembly.Don't forget to put oil back in.

Best place for amp on heritage softail

I have installed this system once on an FLHR, on Softails it may be a bit tricky to find space, so here are some ideas I would use:

1. Under the seat between the rear fender and frame.
2. Under the seat somewhere beteen the battery and box, or frame.
3. If you look at the plastic cover between the rear tire and fender, if you remove this plastic cover, this is where your TSSM is, you may have room there.

You are limited by space on a softail, you may also look at fabricating a special box on the frame, in front, normally between the fender and frame, to put all this. This can be tricky but, I know you will figure it out.

Hope this helps even a little.

How do I remove the battery from my 2003 soft tail classic?

Remove the seat, disconnect the rubber "hold down' strap, disconnect the wires and lift the battery out. Earlier model softails had a bolt on either side of the frame to hold the seat on just in front of the rear fender struts.

How to remove battery from heritage softail 1993

The battery is under the seat inside the "horseshoe" oil tank. Remove the seat by removing the large bolts that take a 3/8" Allen or Hex key type wrench. Lift the rear of the seat and pull it to the rear. You'll see the battery once you get the seat off.

How do I remove the seat from a 2003 softail heritage classic?

There should be a screw/bolt on top of the rear fender holding the seat back down, and there should be a bolt on each side on the frame near where the seat dips down on the sides near the oil tank. The side bolts were hex heads last I knew to help ID them.
