Re: What is the difference between the internal IP and...

Internal IPs are sometimes referred to as virtual IPs. They are a group of up to 255 IPs that are used and recognized internally on the local area network. They are not intended to be recognized on the Internet. The real IP from ISP, instead, can be recognized or pinged by another real IP. The Prestige 310 Internet Access Sharing Router works like an intelligent router that routes between the virtual IP and the real IP.

What is the IP address for my Firestick?

The IP address of an item, unless you specifically assign it one, is done automatically by the router when it connects to the network. This address can be different each time the device connects depending upon what other devices are already connected.

Cisco 861 behind Wimax Router from ISP

> ISP Router LAN IP: 111.222.333.174
> Cisco Router WAN IP: 111.222.333.175

Really? Each "octet" must be a value between 0 and 255, inclusive. A value such as '777' is not valid

How can i map my public ip address to th natted ip private?

It's mapped automatically by your ISP, the real question is what are you trying to accomplish?
  • Are you looking to trying to run some type of service, host a web server, ftp etc?
  • Are you trying to enable a remote connection to a PC/server behind a nat router?
  • Are you wanting to configure a dynamic IP? (This maps a host name ex: to your non static ip assigned by your ISP)

Please comment back so I can help you!

Iam having different ips from wan is this mean someone is accessing my network?

You just have Dynamic ip, nothing to worry about.

"Static IP addressing is for one customer on one IP address and Dynamic IP addressing assigns a different IP address each time the ISP customer logs on to their computer, but this is dependent upon the Internet Service Provider (ISP) because some ISP's only change the IP address as they deem it necessary.

If you have Dynamic IP Addressing through your Website Host it means that you are sharing an IP Address with several other customers.

If you are a beginner on the internet, an avid internet user, are entertaining the thought of starting your own website business, are a gamer, use VOIP or VPN there are several things you should know about IP Addressing."

My asus wl-500gP v2 can't connect to the wan properly... I get the message "you have set the wrong dynamic or stic IP address for you WL-500gP V2." I'm confused because I have it set to dynamic which...

Your ISP address is dynamic, which means every time you log on to your ISP, your WAN IP address changes, this helps to stop hacking. Your ISP even though it is cable uses PPPoE/PPPoA, so you should set your router to this, not dymamic, setting your router to dynamic will make your router look for a different IP address every time your computer tries to log to it, your computer should have e.g, which is static, you can check this by going to command prompt and typing ipconfig, see what it brings up. hope this helps and post back if you need further help.

D-link DI-604

I didn't quite understand what you meant but Ill explain some stuff you to that might help.

From what I understand you have a dial up router/modem, which is external (outside of your computer/seperate), and you hookup your phone line to it, which then connects into your DI-604 WAN port.

WAN Static IP settings are related to the settings given by the ISP that stay constant. There are 2 types of IP, static and dynamic. I think dial up is dynamic, since you have to connect/disconnect through the phone when you want to get on, this causes the ip to change at each reconnect, unless your ISP treats it differently.

I have no idea what you want to get out of the WAN static IP settings, but this should be handled by the dialup router/modem it self, and generally you dont have to manually enter the static ip, unless the ISP requires it, in that case you would enter this stuff there. The ISP Gateway Address refers to the ISP's router address/modem, I think, since I never heard the term before.

After "My problem:", I didn't understand your problem and can't give you further info until you clarify. Also if you internet is fully connected and working, and you still have problems then you could try resetting the router, by holding the reset button for 10 seconds. This will erase all settings. If that doesn't help try unplugging the router, then holding the reset button for 5-10 seconds, then plugging it in at the same time, then it should be fully reset, unless I forgot how it was supposed to be reset. ( I used to have the same router)

Can't access my computer onthe internet

  1. Make sure that your ISP is not blocking port 80. You can check that here. (Otherwise switch to another port like 8080 or 805)
  2. Have you setup your DDNS service on your router or ensured by other means that no-ip has your up-to-date external IP? (Make sure that your external IP matches the entry at!)
  3. Set your LAN server to a static IP address
  4. Make sure that port forwarding is enabled and pointing to your server.
    - That means: if you run a webserver on port 80, you have to set the external port to 80 and leave the internal blank, unless your internal server listens on a different port.
If this does not help, what exactly do your mean by "Fail to connect"? Is it a 404 error? Please provide details.

I think this might be interesting for some other people too. So please come back and leave a comment!

Good luck!
