Question about Whirlpool 24 in. DU1100XTP Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

Whirlpool DU1101 Hello, My Whirlpool DU1100 is only 1 year old. The dishes are dirtu and the soap doesn't disolve completely My husband is convinvced it is low water pressure, primarily from a leak in the sprinkler system in the park behind our house. I think it is just a clog of some kind preventing the water from getting into the dishwasher fill and/or spray arms. The maunual says you need 20 120 PS to run the dishwasher I doubt it is below 20 PS because of a leak in the park. Is there anyway to tell if it is the water pressure versus a clog befere we spend 200.00 to find out. We live in the middle of nowhere and I don't want to even know how much they'd charge. We might as well buy a new cheap dishwasher THX!

Well you should have water up to the heating element. if there is more than likly your chopper is the culprate. do you make sure that there isn't big food particles on your dishes because that is a lot of stress on that chopper and that is what helps in the recurculation of the water to the top rack. and to clean out your dispenser.
So did you recently turn the main water supply off? if so by turning it back on that shoots a bunch of dirt particles throught the lines. So if you are not getting enough water it is probably because of your inlet valve being clogged with dirt and sand. clear that out it should solve the problem.

Take the bottom panel off. sometimes there are 2 sized screws make sure where all screws go. Because you could puncture the tub if it not done correctly when you put it back on after you are done.

Ok, so the inlet valve is very easy to find. Where the water enters the unit you will see the fill hose. the fill hose is attached to your inlet vavle.

They are pretty easy to take off. Make sure that you turn your water off first.

    Detach the hose.

    turn the power off

Usually there is one bolt that hold the valve on, take it off.

Detach the wires going to it and the hose

You can then see the whole inlet valve and what is clogging it

I hope this helps. Leet me know the outcome

Soap does not disolve and residue left on all

The problem is hard water. Go to www.dishwasherfilter.com. They have a new product out that solves this problem once and for all. It filters the water entering your dishwasher and removes the hard minerals that cause these spots. Very affordable and guaranteed to leave your dishes looking amazing every time.

That sounds more like a problem with your soap not disolving completly. Try these few simple things. First, run your hot tap at your sink until it gets hot, then start your dishwasher. What this will do is ensure that your "prewash" is using hot water.

The next thing, is you want to select the "heated wash" or "hi temp wash" option with a "normal wash" cycle. What the heated wash will do is ensure that during the main wash the water gets boosted to 140 degrees wich is the temperature that your soap breaks down at.

White film left on dishes is a classic indication that the soap has not disolved or broken down completly.

Tablet falls to the bottom of tub but wont disolve

The newer Whirlpool dishwashers have little slots in the top of the soap dispenser to allow water to seep in during the first water fill. This design allows the tablet to begin to dissolve during the first fill then be usefull when the soap door opens. In your case, I would check to see if the soap dish is opening at all. Perhaps one of the racks are not allowing clearance or the soap door itself is sticking closed.

Let the dishwasher fill, drain, and then fill again. Open the door of the dishwasher and see if the soap door is still closed and if so, there is your problem. Also, at this time, check the water temperature. It should be at least 120 degrees F for the soap to be effective.

Hope this helps, Ken

OLD KITCHENAIDE MODEL KDI-20 LEAVES SOAP GRANULES ON DISHES.

I have this same problem, plus the pre-wash soap dispenser doesn't open sometimes even though a service guy replaced that. Could he have replaced just one side and not the other? this dishwasher also has a new motor. sometimes it washes beautifully. but other times it does not. even if both dispensers opened.

Whirlpool gold builtin dishwasher

Do not recommend premeasured tablets, usually too much soap. If pre-rinsing dishes use only 1 or two teaspoons of soap in the main wash cup..do not put soap in the prewash cup. Excess soap can cause oversudsing and make the soil sensor think the dishes are real dirty initiating additional wash cycles. Use rinse-aid for better drying performance

Dispenser door

Remove the outer door panel and check the actuator for the soap dispenser door it is probably broken. You might also check and make sure you don't have an old soap build up inside the soap dispenser. Sometimes old soap builds up and dries inside the dispenser and causes the door to stick. It should be free. Good luck.
