You should be able to do it yourself. It's four screws that hold it in back, then all the power connectors.

If you're feeling unsure still, go to youtube and do a search on replacing a power supply....make sure you watch one in reference to a pc, not a mac or anything lol. And, when purchasing one, don't let the sales people hype you up to something with way more wattage than you need... 400 watt should be plenty for a dell 2400....it probably only has a 250 or 300 watt in it now anyways.

Dell Dimension 2400 won't power up?

It is possible that you may have a bad power supply and need to have it replaced, it could also be something simple such a a loose connection on your motherboard. I would start out by removing the power supply from the machine and having it tested at a computer shop. Also make sure everything is plugged in correctly on the hardware. Let me know if this helps please, Jeff from fixya

I have a dell dimension 2400 with a blinking amber light what do i do

Hi,
The blinking amber light on the dimesion 2400 generally means that the power supply on the system has gone bad. Switch off the system and disconnect the power cord from the back of the system . Press and hold down the power button in the front for 10 seconds.
Reconnect the cable back and try powering on the system.

If the same ,fails you would have to take the system in for repairs

Dell Dimension 2400 with secondary SATA hard drive keeps crashing

generally all computers can handle a secondary hard drive. i myself am a dell tech. why not try to increase the wattage output of your power supply from the present 200 or 250 watts to at least 300 or 350 watts to give enough provisions for additional devices that will be connected to your computer. normally a hard drive will get burned or fried because of a loose power cable connection. data cable will never fry your hard drive. try running the hard drive diagnostics if it passes then it should work well. try also using chkdsk /r in the command prompt to fix your hard drive if the damage is not that extensive.
