Cannot get Sunbelt VIPRE to install on my computer

Whenever I try and install VIPRE Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware software I get an error 1402 could not open key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.

Have you tried disabling your virus protection software and firewalls?

    Another option is that even though you have administrator rights under your user account, you
    are not logging on as THE administrator. When you start the computer
    and are presented with the welcome screen (you DO get the welcome
    screen requiring password, right?), you need to press CTRL+ALT+DEL
    twice to bring up another screen which allows you to TYPE the word
    "Administrator" in the username and then either type the password for
    that account or just click OK (leaving the password blank). THIS will
    log you in as THE administrator, not just a user account with
    administrator rights. There is a HUGE difference between the two types
    of login and you need to be logged in as THE administrator to access
    registry keys.

    you do not see the Welcome screen when turning on the computer, you
    have not set a password for your user account (not very safe) and it
    will automatically log you in under your user account. To get to THE
    administrator account, you will need to boot up in Safe Mode.

Have you installed any anti-virus, anti spyware or firewall software recently ?

Check the security software as it may be disallowing or restricting DAP internet access which may cause the error.

if you are seeing this 1402 error for install and uninstall, theremay be some corruption in your registry. If you were on XP, I would sayrun scanreg /fix to try and fix the registry,;sliceId=2

Finally, do you have any other Acrobat products installed? I askbecause if Adobe Reader is uninstalled, and there are no other Acrobatproducts,

This Anti Virus Program (if you were downloading it From a web-site) ora Pop Window you may have just down loaded a Bot or Virus.

Your firewall or antivirus program is blocking the program from editing the registry if you want to use the program you need to disable your security program for the duration of the setup.

SBAMSvc.ex program hogs cpu time

It's an anti-spyware program. I've heard of lots of problems with that particular one.

I would go into safe-mode and uninstall it myself.
Just tap on the F8 keys as your pc is booting up and when the menu appears, use the arrow keys to select safe mode and press enter twice. If you are prompted to select a user, select your username.

Once in safe-mode go to "Start" then "Control Panel" then click the "Add/Remove Programs" and uninstall it from there.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially and if I may remark, a very challenging and time consuming virus cleanup. Some that you could try:
  • determine what virus files/names are involved. Some would be appearing in "msconfig" startup;
  • some would not allowed to be deleted, try delete in Safe Mode;
  • in some instances, some services would have to be stopped using Ctrl-Alt-Del;
  • download, install and run RRT (remove restriction tool);
  • download, install and run Ad-Aware.

Everything that I go to this keeps popping up RUNDLL Error loading C:/Windows system 32/_c00F3AO.dat %1 is not valid Win 32 application

this sounds like a classic case of spyware in your computer. you need to install an anti virus spyware package, e.g. norton antivirus. once installed run an anti virus scan and spyware scan it should solve your problem.

2009 anti virus program keeps on poping on the computer screen. It's massing up my software.

Hi nhnvk,

Hope you have anti-virus and anti-spyware programs If so, boot your computer to "Safe" mode with networking. Update your anti-virus and anti-spyware programs. Then run the programs either one at a time or simultaneously (tip: run both programs twice). If this does not work, then the next best thing to do is to reformat your hard drive and re-install all your programs. Of course you'll need to back up all your pertinent files.

The anti spyware software should not conflict with your anti virus software.
You can download two good free anti spyware programs:
AVG also has a free version.
