I'd like to know how to setup certain application to be printed to specific printer. For example, I need to print Word doc to printer A, then Quickbook report to Printer B, etc. Is that possible?

    hi, checkitright

Yes, I've been doing that for years now. I gotta select printer back & forth, if I want to print a certain file. Do you think it's time consuming to do the network setup for specifying printers accordingly? What tools/ applications do I have to use? Thx again for your time & advice.

If you have a network system and depending on the application you are using then Yes it's possible to do, but it's not easy, you need an IT person to set it up.
Some App's like Meditech, Kronos etc.. will do it, and even then you need tospecify the printer NAME

Otherwise you will have to choose the printer in the :
File
Print
(choose printer)
then print each time

depends is this a big office/business or home app.? I'll try and see if there are any programms specific to what you are doing, but usually it's mainly used in big business's like hospitals and corp. that have over 100 people.

I have just purchased and installed a J3600 Officejet printer. How do I get it to orient the print for a #10 envelope, which has to be fed in lengthwise?

You'll have to choose "#10 Envelope" as your paper size in whatever program you are printing from.

Then pick "Landscape" in the print options menu when you go to print on the envelope.

I am trying to print something in color using my canon pixma mp640. i have made sure all of my ink levels are good and that my setting on both the computer and printer are set to color. but it is only...

If you are certain that your printer online properties indicates color printing and you can get 'test print' in color (via Printer properties or Printer built-in menu), I would first check that your application is not overriding the default settings (e.g. such as proof/draft mode printing in mono or B&W) or try another application.

If no applications won't print in colors, I would try to re-install the Printer Drivers specific to your windows version.

The printer detected an error. The numbers (xxxx) indicate the specific type of error. Turn the printer off, and then turn the printer back on. Try printing a job from a different software application. If the job prints, go back to the first application and try printing a different file. (If the message only appears when you use a certain software application or print job, contact the software vendor for assistance.) If the message persists, try the following: 1. Cycle the power. 2. Reseat or replace the interface cable and cycle the power. 3. Download the latest firmware image (if available-the firmware download is not available for some printers) from http://www.hp.com and use HP Jetdirect or another appropriate utility to update the printer. 4. Remove the DIMMs one at a time and cycle the power. 5. Try using the parallel interface, if possible. 6. Remove the EIO cards from the printer and then perform a cold reset. 7. If the error persists, replace the formatter.

PRINTER ERROR

To continue

turn off then on

None A critical firmware error has

occurred that caused the

processor on the formatter to

abort operation. This type of error

can be caused by invalid print

commands, corrupt data, or invalid

operations. In some cases,

electrical noise in the cable can

corrupt data during transmission

to the printer. Other causes

include poor quality parallel

cables, poor connections, or homegrown

applications. On rare

occasions, the formatter is at fault,

which is usually indicated by a

79 Service Error.

1. Press CANCEL JOB to clear the

print job from the printer

memory.

2. Turn the printer off and then

back on.

3. Try printing a job from a

different software application.

If the job prints, go back to

the first application and try

printing a different file. If the

message appears only with a

certain software application or

print job, contact the software

vendor for assistance.

4. If the message persists with

different software applications

and print jobs, disconnect all

cables to the printer that

connect it to the network or

5. Turn the printer off.

6. Remove all memory DIMMs

or third-party DIMMs from the

49,4c18 error

49.XXXXX ERROR
A critical firmware error has occurred.
1. Turn the device off and then on.
2. Try to determine whether the error occurs intermittently, while printing, or when turning on the device.
3. If the error appears while printing, determine whether it occurs when printing from a specific computer, a specific application, or a specific file. If all other computers, applications, or files
can print without the error, then the problem may be only within one print job or computer. Make sure the computer has the most current printer drivers, or use a generic printer driver.
4. Go to www.hp.com/support/LJP3005. Click Download Drivers and Software. Check for the latest firmware image version at the bottom of the page. If this firmware image is newer than the
one installed on the device and the device can receive a firmware update, download the newer firmware upgrade.
Try printing a job from a different software program. If the job prints, go back to the first program and try printing a different file. If the message appears only with a certain software program or print job, contact the software vendor for assistance.
6. If the message persists, contact your HP Support.

Won't print error ''79 service(01BF)''

You didn't list a model, but here are some possible causes:
** could be "font" related especially if it's an older printer years. Does it happen specifically with certain PDF's and Word docs are ok? If so, there's probably nothing to do, but upgrade printer
  • Software/drivers, Memory PCA's, Font-Macro-Personality Cartridges, option I/O Cards. Defective toner cartridge in the Laserjet 4 Plus only. Remove any accessories (font cartridges, memory PCA's, SIMMs, etc.) plugged into the formatter card and try again. If the problem persists and is application specific, verify proper setup with application vendor.
  • Defective Formatter PCA

Crazy characters start to print when printing from pdf doc or certain websites

Hi,

I understand that the printer is printing garbage when you are trying to print from internet.

Please follow the below given instructions to resolve the issue.

This issue can occur if the data send from the application from which you are printing, is using the PC-8 character set. This will produce a smiley face or garbage charters each time an unsupported escape code is sent by application. To know the character set, please contact the manufacturer of the application.
Also, you can follow these steps to disable the power managment in the comoputer.
1. Right-click My Computer, choose properties
2. Click Hardware tab, click Device Manager button.
3. Click the + next to Universal Serial Bus Controller.
4. Right-click USB Root Hub, choose properties.
5. Click Power Management tab.
5. Uncheck the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device
to save power.
6. Click Ok.

If the issue persists, follow the instructions from the below given weblink to resolve the issue.

Here is the web document:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?docname=bpu01105&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&dlc=en&lang=en

Just copy and paste the entire link into the Internet browser's address bar and press enter.

This should resolve the issue.
