Hello, I have had my grinder for years and finally decided to give it a clean. Opened it up and after cleaning tried to re-calibrate the grind setting to 1. I have read on the internet that you need to rotate until a 'chirp' is heard. Tried a couple of times but then everything seemed to rotate and the motor cut. Have done the obvious like changing the external fuse (is there an internal one?). I have noticed that 3 brass pins around the outside of the lower grinding plate have elevated and even when screwing the upper grinding plate fully the two are seperated by a gap of 6-7mm. No response at all when I switch on now. Have I messed up the motor? Thanks if you can help.
rotate the knob to try to get out the upper holder of burr. if it does not rotate than disasemble the knob and the gears(plastic big one is attached to upper holder of grinder, the other is together with knob.
tru to rotate it manualy, with help of extra srews puted in gear holder holes.
when you get it out, carefuly clean it, look for metal parts and stones(wich sometime comes with coffee)
turn on the grinder and attach gently one marker to lower burr during spining. after you stop grinder, look if it is perfect circle marked in burr. if it is not than marked side is higher. you should consider getting it ok by putting adhesive paper under lower burr and check it again.

• The grinder can be set during grinding to grind approximately between 5 and 9 seconds, producing a milder or stronger coffee beverage (see chapter 9b)
It sounds like there may be an issue with the grinder's programming or calibration. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:
Check the grind settings: Make sure the grind setting is not set too low, as this can cause the grinder to continue grinding even after the brewing process has started. You may need to adjust the grind setting to a coarser level.
Clean the machine: If the grinder is clogged with old coffee grounds, it may continue to grind to compensate for the lack of coffee being produced. Clean the machine thoroughly, including the grinder, and try again.
Reset the machine: Turn off the machine and unplug it for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on again. This can sometimes reset the machine and resolve any software or programming issues.
Contact Jura customer service: If none of the above steps work, it may be necessary to contact Jura customer service for further assistance or to schedule a repair.
I took the grinder apart and found to have to replace the two metal grinding tools (inside cone and outside ring. The parts for it were quite cheap. Just get yourself a proper instruction how to do it and follow it religiously. There are marks left by Jura engineers to calibrate the grinder assembly. Changing the actual grinder bits inside does not alter these if put together in the same position. The calibration is essential for a decent taste. After 7 years I would recommend a full service anyway. This will not be cheap, but all seals get replaced or just the brewing unit and the machine will be physically cleaned inside. Only a clean machine will give a decent taste. And the usual cleaning and de-scaling you can do is not enough to maintain a squeaky clean machine over the period of a few 1000 cups of coffee.
If you did not opened upper holder of burr for cleaning long time it may block and cause problem for settings. In that case you:
stabilize the body of grinder
provide block spin to be in release position
get one 3 legged key for releasing oil filters
put filter legs at upper holder of burrs
start to release carefuly
be gentle at first, go forward and backwards to measure how much strength is requiredyou clean it and put it inn without block spin for testing , if it is ok than you assemble it properly
Try this, remove the bean hopper, and vac out the burr chamber, then put 1 tablespoon white rice in the burr chamber and cover with hand and turn grinder on, if the rice grinds, then your grind might have been set too fine. Turn the grinder towards fine until you can barely turn the burr nut, you will feel them touching, then turn course about 16 notches (do not use numbers, use the small notches around the rim), that should give you a great starting point for your grind.
I own a Saeco Incanto Deluxe. It employs the ceramic grinder that has worked flawlessly for 3-4 years. One day it stopped and "Grinder Blocked" appeared. I removed the entire grinder unit, cleaned it thoroughly and calibrated the grinder. This did not fix the problem. After many similar attempts, I found the entire grinder assembly (motor, grinder etc.) online for $149.00. Install of the new assembly took me five minutes and it works perfectly. Please note that the ceramic grinding blades (there are two round ones that must be aligned corrrectly) cost $40 a piece (same site where I found the entire assembly for $149). My suggestion--save yourself the agony and replace the assembly if cleaning and calibration fails.
First step.If the grind is to coarse the burrs will spin to fast sensing no beans.
Solution: The grind needs to be finer. Caution you can over adjust causing the clay burrs to shatter.
