Question about Epson Perfection V350 Flatbed Scanner

Problems with v350

I'm on a Mac Pro with OSX 10.4.11. Scanner no more than 6 months old. No problems before with either if them. All cables correctly connected. Computer and scanner do have contact -- warms up when starting computer and software (Epsons). Hates me when clicking Preview or Scan, leaving me with message: "Epson Scan cannot be started." Also tried VueScan and mess is: "Cannot properly communicate w the scanner. The carriage unit may be locked dep on your scanner model. Make sure the scanner is properly ... bla bla. Then turn the scanner off and back ...".
I cannot find any carriage lock -- if any. Seems software and scanner don't talk all the way?
Urgent help is needed, my hair is growing very gray ... Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem. Re-installed the drivers 3 times with no luck. Read this post then swaped USB ports, turned the scanner off and on again, and it worked. So weird and so simple!!??

Basti! Thanks for your answer. I already tried all that -- the USB didn't show up at in the system profiler. Finally I pulled out all USB connections and tried all over = working!!! The problem was a relatively new USB con to a JBL loudspeaker. I never thought USB could intefer with each other, but now I learned something new :-)

HI-

Try to reseat or unplug and replug the usb cable for the scanner to your mac, errors indicating that the computer is not communicating with it. you can also go to apple icon then go to system prefences or system profiler, click on hardware then USB check if there is an epson scanner under USB device tree

keep me posted

I am trying to install EverSmat Jazz+ on Apple G5 Macintosh. It is connected through RATOC's PCI to FireWire cable, yet the computer doesn't seem to find the scanner at all.

Hi Ralph
What OSX are you running on your Mac G5 and is this an Intel or Power PC? You will find that the Jazz Scanners are only supported up to G4 OSX10.3.9 and no higher.
You may get lucky and find it may work but you will get numerous crashes for no reason and the scanner will also just freeze and you will have problems with the BGCAR application that the scanner application uses.
Sorry cannot be more helpful.

HP Scanjet 4470c compatible with Mac OS X 10.6.1

You will not find drivers for this old scanner. Sorry but this scanner is not compatible with Tiger, Leopard, or Snow Leopard, and HP offers no drivers other than for OSx 8.0 & 9.0 which are 10 years old. Time to purchase a new scanner.

Long ago I had to resort to a third party scanning software, called VueScan from Hamrick Software. Works just fine now.

Canon N650U and Mac OSX

Canon only has this scanner driver in OS9 and it will run in classic mode if you are using OSX. This $40 software will work with your scanner in OSX, but for $40 you can purchase an OSX native scanner too.
