Problems with v350

I'm on a Mac Pro with OSX 10.4.11. Scanner no more than 6 months old. No problems before with either if them. All cables correctly connected. Computer and scanner do have contact -- warms up when starting computer and software (Epsons). Hates me when clicking Preview or Scan, leaving me with message: "Epson Scan cannot be started." Also tried VueScan and mess is: "Cannot properly communicate w the scanner. The carriage unit may be locked dep on your scanner model. Make sure the scanner is properly ... bla bla. Then turn the scanner off and back ...".
I cannot find any carriage lock -- if any. Seems software and scanner don't talk all the way?
Urgent help is needed, my hair is growing very gray ... Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem. Re-installed the drivers 3 times with no luck. Read this post then swaped USB ports, turned the scanner off and on again, and it worked. So weird and so simple!!??

Basti! Thanks for your answer. I already tried all that -- the USB didn't show up at in the system profiler. Finally I pulled out all USB connections and tried all over = working!!! The problem was a relatively new USB con to a JBL loudspeaker. I never thought USB could intefer with each other, but now I learned something new :-)

Try to reseat or unplug and replug the usb cable for the scanner to your mac, errors indicating that the computer is not communicating with it. you can also go to apple icon then go to system prefences or system profiler, click on hardware then USB check if there is an epson scanner under USB device tree

keep me posted

I have a driver problem with Final Cut Expres. It needs a driver for my Sony HDR-FX7E. My Computer is a Mac Book Pro. System mac OSX 10.5.8

Sony and Mac don't play well together. After months of searching for a similar problem with another Sony model camcorder I found the only solution is to use an iLink cable, or 1394 cable(same thing) between the camera and the backup unit you use for your Mac, you might get lucky like I did and have it show up in the time machine files for the date and time you link with it. Only way I ever found to see it, and not very efficient. But then I could use any of my movie programs with it, including Quicktime, and Premiere Pro from Adobe. Sorry, but I don't have Final Cut Express, so not sure about that one.

Canon N650U and Mac OSX

Canon only has this scanner driver in OS9 and it will run in classic mode if you are using OSX. This $40 software will work with your scanner in OSX, but for $40 you can purchase an OSX native scanner too.
