Sound card on a laptop is integrated on motherboard, and there is no way to fit inside an external one.

Try first reinstalling the driver, you can download the driver from manufacturer website.

If drivers do not fix it, and you are sure the audio chipset is faulty, all you can do is using an external usb card and speakers, like this ones:

Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Micro USB Audio Adapter
SIIG SoundWave 7.1 Audio Adapter

But most of the times you fix the audio by reinstalling drivers.

I have a compaq presario sr1500nx and i have no sound. it keeps telling me there is no sound card but it has one in it what should i do

Hi

Possible reason why it says THERE IS NO SOUND CARD INSTALLED the software of the SOUND CARD is not yet installed. Even though your computer has a sound card and the software of the sound card (DRIVER) is not installed theres no way for the computer to output a sound..

Solution:

Copy and use this exact website address to redirect you to the exact page where you can download the driver of your COMPAQ PRESARIO sr1500nx
sound driver...

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=472140

NOTE:
After you download the sound driver to your computer , locate where you download the sound driver on your computer and open the file that you download which is sound driver from hp and install it.. Follow the instruction that will appear on your screen until you finish the installation.

Good luck and I assure you that after doing the steps your sound card problem will be fix unless you realy dont have a sound card or the soundcard is already busted. Thank you and PLEASE rate my answer here at fixya..

When i connect my desktop to my monitor i don't get any visual picture, but when i connect my laptop to my monitor i do. My desktop is gateway gt5465e

So it sounds like your video card on your desktop. The best solution here if you are not looking to spend much money is to buy an off board video card. It looks like from the specs on this model you should have a spot for a pcie x16 card.

This link is a cheap one from newegg. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500118

hi steve

it could be 1 of many things causing this problem

1 solution is to go to your device manager find the sound card device click on it and uninstall it, then action>scan for hardware changes it should the sound card again and re sort the software automatically.

if its the route of getting a new sound card you want it all depends on what you want for sound and the amount of money you have to spend

hope this information has helped you

Cannot get games to work once they have been installed. when you go to open the games say they cnnot open a file and the game will not start or simply game will not do a thing. tried installing the games...

you've not told weather its been working previously on your system or not... and if it were not working, then the reason should be the lack of graphic cards, diplay adapters (advanced), or media accelerator units. try typing "dxdiag" in the run menu. and verify weather your systems software acceleration is enabled or disabled. if its not there, you should spend little money on them. for good games the random access memory should be atleast 512 mb. although 2 gb minimum is recommended. sometimes the problem can be simply solved by switching the screen resolution to lower or higher as per demanded. or to 32 bits. if you tries the both said ones and still not found it working, you should get a better graphic card, like geforce basic or advanced as per the game environment quality. its cost starts from 100 $. and before upgarding, remove the o.s from system. reload it. ( genuine windows vista recommended). get back me at deepuunni1985@gmail.com

Emachines w3609

Hey iluvyakatu

Does your emachine has inbuild video card or AGP or PCI card? if one it has AGP or PCI card try to reseat it. If it is inbuild try to use AGP card or PCI card and see what happen. Also try to check whether you have an inbuild video and AGP or PCI both installed, if you have both try to use one of them.

good luck

Acer laptop wont't turn up...

yo...

good to hear... least we know what is wrong...

so it can be one of 3 things... the first 2 are the most common and the last one can happen but I haven't seen it happen too often.

1. LCD control board is busted. Usually a circuit board that controls the picture going to the LCD screen. Usually built into the LCD monitor.

2. LCD screen is busted. The screen itself is busted.

3. Video card on the laptop is busted.

I'm going with 3 as you typed the system can't find the video card on the laptop. Try going to device manager and try to see if the computers/windows detects the video card. If it pops up you can try re-installing the drivers for the video card.

Check for any "Unknown" devices as that might be the video card itself.

Let me know what you found...

P.S. please rate my Solutions... Thanks

MY TOSHIBA LAPTOP SATELTTIE A200 WONT PLAY MY PC GAME I BROUGHT, IT KEEPS SAYING YOUR SYSTEM DOES NOT SUPPORT FULL SCREEN MODE

Hi, it depends what game it is you are trying to play but if it is a recent graphics intensive game you will not be able to play it on your laptop as it will not be up to spec which is why you are receiving that message.

You either need to buy a computer that has a graphics card or buy a games console.

Sorry I don't have any better advice for you except you needing to spend more money!
