Take the overloads (on top of the compressors ) out the system, and run it now. or just buy a compressor hard start-kit! $10.00!

Desert master carrier ac compressor is leaking and due to leakage it is taking too much ampere due to it trips the breaker. what i have to do change only the compressor or the whole unit?

If only the compressor is faulty then you can repair it by just changing the compressor. This is a specialist job that requires specialist equipment and you wont be able to do it yourself unless you have this equipment. I suggest you contact a refrigeration repair service and get them to check it out.

Ptac unit wont cool

Check unit's ID#'s and add any hyphens, etc or separate letters, numbers, to be exactly what's on unit.

Cooling gas is missing. Call some AC service in near to fill it, ask more of them for price. Do not switch it on until you solve this to prevent higher damage.

Error e8

I don't see a error code E8 listed.. I take it your tried unplugging unit for at least 30 minutes then reconnecting unit. Could be a bad controller or display. If unit hasn't been serviced in a long time.. it should be checked for proper coolant levels and leaks.

You can find the service manual here...

I have a chance to buy several amana ptac units (ptc074D series) they are rated at 265 vac I only have 220vac. Will they work at 220vac? Is there a conversion kit needed?

The 265/277v units will not work in a 208/230v hotel without a transformer. Basically you do not want to get involved with that. When replacing your PTACs stick with the proper voltage. As far as a conversion kit, if one exists, the cost will put you right back at the cost of a new unit. If your hotel is wired for 208/230v it won't give the unit the power it needs to function properly. When looking for replacement units here's what you need to match (besides getting the proper BTUs):
Voltage
Unit size (make sure they fit in your existing sleeves)
Power cord configuration (the 265/277v will have a different power plug)
Good Luck!

Compressor will not get started. It clicks or just does not start

No that is not the solution, it the capacitor were bad, then it wouldn't start manually.

You need to be looking elsewhere. The problem may be in the refrigerant level. Those units are supposed to have pressure switches.

Check elsewhere such as pressure switches and make sure the thermostat is working properly.

Go to the thermostat and jump out R to Y. If the unit comes on, your thermostat is the problem.

Amana ptac- blows same temperature air whether its set at 80 or 65...any ideas?

Check to see if your compressor is running. Thre are 5/16 screws on either side of the unit holding it to the case. Take those out and you can get to the cpmpressor. These are not complicated units but you may have to have a service tech look at it for you. I do sell a lot of these PTAC units so if your compressor is running you have leak or bad compressor. Russ
