Question about Hampton Bay 52 In. Brushed Nickel Romano with Integrated Pan Style Light Kit Fan

Open Question

Dim LED PLate

I purchased the Edgemont model 557-268 which has LED. At the time
of viewing other models were all lit so we didnt realize that thie model
would be so dim. We already installed, and not quite sure what to do.
Can we purchase a higher plate?

I just purchased and installed the edgemont 52 inch fan and have a similar problem. Has anybody solved the problem with the useless light it has?

Several reviews at the Home Depot website state that there is no other light option for this fan. Also, do not install a remote with this fan. It causes the light to blink every 5 seconds while the fan is on.

My fan's light output is so poor that I rechecked the installation. Verified that the LED light kit is indeed receiving 24V, so nothing's wrong with its power supply. At that point I went to the Net and found a number of identical comments on this subject. As of today, no good solutions...

Hi ,
try swapping the screen with another one to just see if it is behaving the same, because some times the screen circuitry or the led screen could be damaged .

good luck buddy

Learn light is blinking in a serise of 4 times.

The light is sending the code for:

Safety reversing sensors slightly misaligned (dim or flashing LED).

Tweak the sensors to make sure they are pointed at one another and both lights are lit and not flickering. If your opener is working okay then you may just need to unplug it for about 5 minutes and it should reset so the blinking light quits.

Model GSS22JF. Dispenser light issue. I trhopught it was burned out, but after installing a fresh bulb I noticed that it was barely lit. A small orange glow in the filament. Tried another bulb, same thing....

No there is no way to increase the brightness. This display ( and nearly everything else in the fridge ) is controlled by a main electronic board which is on the back of the refrigerator , behind a metal plate up a foot or so from floor. You could purchase the Board from many online vendors like

Let me know, if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

I have the same Hampton Bay Edgemont LED light kit. It is AWFUL to try to see in a room that is lit with less than a night light. I need a brighter light kit to replace this one. Why isn't it available???

That, my friend is a question to ask Hampton Bay.

It is my idea you could increase the light output by putting a different kit on the fan or by using other task lighting solutions.

Why doesn't the manufacturer do something ... maybe they are waing for you to tell them ...

thanks for using

LED light too dim, is there a brigher LED kit?

You need these parts:
- Low profile GU24 socket (Maxlite MLGSIIB)
- GU24 CFL bulb (Progress Lighting MLS13GUSWW6)
- Threaded pipe fitting, nut, washer
- 2 wire nuts

Here is how to fix it for a few bucks. You need a low-profile GU24 socket (Maxlite MLGSIIB), which is readily available in large mail order channels. You also need a GU24 compact fluorescent bulb (Progress Lighting MLS13GUSWW6) that is available through Home Depot mail order or other internet retailers. To my knowledge, these are the only parts that fit into the low-profile glass.
You'll also need a threaded pipe fitting and a proper size nut for attaching the GU24 base to the holder, both readily available at the ceiling fan section in HD. You'll also need a washer underneath the nut to hold the socket in place. Put your MacGyver skills to work.
To change the parts, uninstall the light fixture by unscrewing the glass, then removing three screws that hold the LED plate in place. Disconnect the LED wire connection and a larger white connection behind it. Then remove three more screws that holds the rest of the light fixture up and remove it from the fan.
Once on the desk, remove the back plate wire cover (3 screws) so you have access to the wires. Unscrew and remove the rectangular box (120v-12v converter), you won't be needing it any longer. Cut the black and white wires close to the module - you'll be attaching the GU24 socket wires to those wires.
Remove the LED circuit board from the plate by pinching the plastic standoffs and then pulling them out. Install the GU socket to the larger hole at the center of the plate using a pipe fitting, washer and a nut. Notice that it fits perfectly - it was probably originally designed to use this socket! You may need a washer that is the appropriate size to hold the socket in place. I also used a piece of bent paperclip underneath the washer to hold everything tight.
Remove the white thermal sleeve from the LED module wiring and insert it over the GU24 socket wires just like it was with the LED wire. This is to prevent heat damage to the wires when they touch the metal edges. Using smaller wire nuts, connect the black and white wires to the wires you cut off earlier when removing the 12v module.
Put everything back together, install the light bulb, and enjoy a much brighter light from this beautiful ceiling fan.
