IBM Blue Screen

Hello, When I try installing XP on my IBM IntelliStation M Pro 6868, after it asks me to press F8 to accept the settings it gives me this blue screen **Hardware Malfunction
Call your hardware vendor for support
 ** The System has  halted***

I have restarted on several occasions and it gives me the same error

I have the same problem for my IBM intelliStation M Pro after trying to get BIOS and change it to start up first the CD-Rom driver before the hard drive (C). Why? The reason is that I want to install UBURNTU by a CD. To get in BIOS (?), I pressed "Ctrl + A". Curiously, I found 15 devices, but only 2 are used. The device #2 which is used for (C) the hard drive and #7 the CD-Rom? (I suppose, not sure because I don't have knowledge of technical and computer). Others are written "no device". I check everything and went to everywhere I can move with the arrow (right, left, up, and down), I didn't find anything is said: "Hard Drive" and "CD-Rom" device. After all, I have changed nothing. When I took "exit", I was carefully about "yes and no", before pressing to any letter to "boot" the system as it is required.

After this, I get the same error message as other person that said: "Hardware malfunction. Call your hardware vendor for support. *** The system has halted**

I tried several time since this morning and this evening, but it didn't working. Currently, my monitor is dark likely it is not connected to the hard drive. I don't know what to do. If any body can help and tell me what to do, I will be very appreciate.

    Thanks.

I had the same problem with an Intellistation 6868 for years. It just wouldn't load XP but ran fine on Windows 2000 SP4. I tried 3 different XP Installation CD's with no luck. After several attempts at installing XP I bought a clean XP Upgrade from ebay.

It took me 3 goes to install it but eventually I got it in there. If you can get XP to start on the 6868 press F8 and start it in safe mode first then when it's booted fully, shut it down and and then start it clean again. It worked for me. I've been running it for 5 months now and it's fine.

I couldn't get it to work at all on the 6868's onboard IDE so I installed a PCI Raid Card and it boots fine on that.

System:
IBM 6868 52A M-Pro Intellistation
2 x Intel P3 866 CPU's 256 mb cache
2 GB ECC RD Ram
2 x Seagate 320 GB 8MB Cache HDD on a Sunix ATA133 PCI Raid Card
2 x Seagate 10000 rpm SCSI HDD on Adaptec Raid Card
ATI 9520 AGP 128mb Graphics

I have IBM Intellistation Z Pro 6221. I tried to install XP, I press F6 for SCSI driver. Then It prompts Press 'Enter' for install or 'R' for repair. Whatever I press it displays No hard disc detected

You need a floppydisk including the Driver for the SCSI or Sata drive - Depending which HD You are using.
If the controller is in motherboard You will find the driver from motherboard webpages.
If it's a separate controller card - You will find it from it's web pages.
XP doesn't support too well sata if it's not the XP SP3 version media.
You may need to change the sata to compatibility IDE mode to get it up and running.

Intellistation Dreaded "ntldr not found"

You have the solution given the fact that the IBM netloader wants to be subordinant to a loaded OS on a different drive acting as server when used on a thin client like the Intellistation. Unless carried as a portion of the registry of an MS OS, XP or Vista will drop it unless registered with a NetUpdate as a standing part of the registry. But most sysops conduct updates without all clients active so that some will inevitably be dropped, which is why the best strategy is to conduct updates on Off Hours when all clients can be up without human interaction, impossible during the workday, unless you deactivate an entire set of nodes for the purpose.

Run a reregistry while the Intellistation is on and active but without an operator and your problem should disappear more permanently.

hi! try this. reboot your cpu, then press the CMOS setup key (del), then select load default setting, then go to hard disk detection settings, select the LBA setup. I believe you know how to manipulate the CMOS setup configuration. if still doesn't work out, bring it to the service center near you and ask for assistance, Im sure they would love to help you. IBM IntelliStation Z Pro 6221

Mayeb you need to repair the OS - In which case you will need to have SCSI Controller XP OS floppy driver obtained from IBM website.

Start up the computer booting up from the CD ROM. Then when it comes to "install thrid party devices" - press 'S' and insert the floppy with the SCSI Coontroller on it and follow the on screen instructions.

Hi, Muhammad, It sounds to like you have been infected with a virus and will need to run an antivirus program at bootup. If you are unable to do this yourself then it is not a big job for a computer technician to do for you. Regards mistyman
