Question about Motorola Mobility RAZR V3i Cellular Phone

Connected as a storage device problem

My phone keeps flashing that it is connected as a storage device. When it does this, I can't use it at all. I push a button and that flashes up. I can receive calls, but can't see the caller id. I can't even turn the phone off and then back on -- I have to take the battery out and leave it out for a few minutes then put it back in and it will work normally. HELP !!!

Tried connecting the GT-T9500 to a Lenovo (2011 Windows 7 laptop). Nothing happens. What needs to be done to transfer files from the phone to laptop. Thank you!

In your android device You should go to "Settings" then "USB computer connection" and here you can choose a mode in what your device is connecting to a PC "Media device/MTP", "Camera/PTP", or only charging mode.

You should switch to MTP mode.

How do I down load photo's from my Samsung 2 phone please

First make sure you have the correct USB drivers for your phone installed on your pc. Go to device manager and see if your phone or mass storage device is listed. If not, download the drivers here, http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads. Make sure debugging on your phone is enabled. Please refer to the following:

  1. To set the Samsung Galaxy S2 to USB Mass Storage (MSC) mode, go into "Settings > Applications > Development" and enable "USB debugging".

  2. Then drag the status bar down and tap on "USB connected".

  3. The "USB connected" screen with the large green Android icon will appear. Tap on "Connect USB storage".

A confirmation dialog box will appear. Tap "OK". The green Android icon will turn orange, indicating that the phone is now in USB Mass Storage mode and should now appear as USB disk drives in "Devices with Removable Storage" and be assigned drive letters.

Samsung Galaxy S2 (Android 4.0)

  1. To set the Samsung Galaxy S2 to USB Mass Storage (MSC) mode, go into "Settings > More... > USB utilities" and tap on "Connect Storage to PC".

  2. Then plug the USB cable into the device and connect to your computer.

  3. The "USB connected" screen with the large green Android icon will appear. Tap on "Connect USB storage".

  4. A confirmation dialog box will appear. Tap "OK". The green Android icon will turn orange, indicating that the phone is now in USB Mass Storage mode and should now appear as USB disk drives in "Devices with Removable Storage" and be assigned drive letters.
Samsung Galaxy S2 (Android 2.3)

How do I download photos from my Droid to my toshiba laptop

There are many ways to transfer files (including photos) from your Droid to your Computer. Here is a simple way:
1. Connect your phone to your laptop using the phone's USB cable. Once the connection is made, wait a few seconds for the phone to give you notification saying "USB Connected" at the top bar (aka Notification bar).
2. Tap and drag the bar down to show what's in the notification area.
3. Now tap "USB Connected" in order to select "Mount as Mass Storage Device" or "Turn On USB Storage" or any item meaning the same thing (to treat the droid as a storage device like a flash drive).
4. Once that is done, you should now see a new listing in "My Computer" on your laptop- this is your phone as a flash drive- move/copy/delete your photos and files as you would with any other flash drive.

"USB Connected" keeps flashing on

This is a common bug found within the Android OS. Simply turn off the phone and turn it back on and your problem should be solved.

When you connect your phone to a PC, a pop up shows on you phone , requesting what you want to use the connection for.
If you want to use your phone as a flash drive, you would have to select 'Data Storage' to be able to view it in 'My Computer'.
If you wish to use it for media tranfer, you select 'Media Transfer'.
If you wish to use your nokia pc suite, or OVI suite, you select as appropriate.
Apart from mass storage opton- which displays your device as a disk-, other options show your device as a phone.
Hope this was helpful? Give it a thumbs up please.

When it displays insert memory card for connecting as mass storage device, switch off the phone and reconnect so the phone will perform as a memory storage device.

Good luck.

What do the different USB connection modes do? Music Sync, mass storage, data service? What do they all mean?

Music Sync means it lets you sink your playlist to the media player currently installed on your PC or the LG media player software.

Mass storage is an option which makes your phone as a mass storage device (acts like a flash drive - USB). You can only access your external memory card when in this mode.

Data service I think on the other hand is for the modem capability of your phone.

Its best to consult the manual with the exact definitions of the whatabouts regarding your phone.

Happy exploring!

Can't download photo's onto computer

Are you connecting your phone as a Mass Storage Device?

  1. From the home screen, attach one end of the Motorola Original Enhanced USB cable to your phone and the other end to a USB port on your computer.
  2. On your phone, press Yes to use the phone as a portable USB storage device.
Note: When connected as a storage device the phone cannot perform regular phone activities. Disconnect to resume normal operation.
  3. On the PC, open the My Computer window and find where your phone displays as a Mass Storage icon.
Double click the Mass Storage Device icon.
  4. Drag and drop files between your computer and phone.
  5. When finished, remove the phone safely from your computer. Right click the "Safely Remove Hardware"
icon at the bottom of your computer screen, then select "USB Mass Storage Device" and click Stop.
  6. Select USB Mass Storage Device and click OK.
Now it is safe to disconnect the cable. When the cable is disconnected, the phone restarts
