Hey I have the same problem, I bought a grid stand for it, taught it might be the overheating thing aswell, still the same thing. Maybe a virus aswell, I had it turned off for awhile, and when booted back on, the virus scan was expired so it may have loaded a virus.

I am tryinmg to format but cant get it to boot from the system operting cd, I need help with that, if anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated.

Is the bottom of the laptop extremely warm ?

the fan and heatsink may need cleaning as it could be shutting down due to heat (thermal) issues.

What is wrong when AC Adapter is beeping continuously, and does not recharge laptop battery?

The adapter's Syscon detects a short circuit. It might be within the adapter itself; or with your system. Contact the authorized service centre in this case. If you have an other adapter, load it with. By this way, you can get an idea about the faulty unit. Electro help

My laptops shut down when i put the adapter and doesn't get start up , but it's work normally with betray

Problem description:The laptop shuts off when AC power adapter is plugged in. The laptop works fine on battery power but as soon as you connect it to AC adapter, the laptop turns off.
Possible cause:1. Power adapter failure.
2. Motherboard failure.
Possible troubleshooting steps and repair solution:First of all, test the power adapter. Make sure the adapter outputs correct voltage. It's possible that the output voltage is not correct and the laptop shuts down to prevent the damage. Test your laptop with another known good power adapter.
If the problem still exists, even after replacing the adapter, most likely it's the motherboard failure. Replace the motherboard.

Toshiba laptop when i start to on the power it will turns off

Hello,

Make sure the battery is fully charged. Leave it plugged in for 10-30 minutes and see if this helps. If not, you may have a bad power cord or battery. Try replacing these parts.

If the laptop is under warranty, I recommend contacting Toshiba for assistance. If not, you can visit a local computer repair shop if you have one around.

Shuts down right after start up, shuts off.

Hello there!

You have to check your battery meter. Then try to remove the battery and plug-in your laptop directly to adapter without the battery. Just to make sure if its going to start up when you power up your system using your adapter.

If you need further assistance, please let me know.

Thinkpad T61 Battery Problem

your battery may suffer from'memory-effect'
due to overcharging several times.

boot up as usual, switch laptop to standby-mode
and let it switched on until it shuts down automatically.
this will help to drain the battery to a very low level.
recharge battery until full capacity while laptop is still shut off, boot and measure time until it switches off again.
You may have increased battery capacity this way a bit! If this does not help, get a new one with a better capacity and remove battery when your using laptop at home for a longer time(this will prevent future overcharging), rely an ac/dc adaptor instead, laptop will funtion anyway.

Emachine Turns Off

This is the best way to tell. If your system is shutting down on you by behaving like your shutting it down thru windows then it could be a spyware, virus trojan issue going on. If thats the case then run your virus program and see what it finds and remove it. If your laptop is shutting down on you where everything turns off right away with no lights, kind of like a power outage then go ahead and remove the battery and only use the ac adapter and see if that solves the problem. If it does solve the problem then you know its your battery that is the culprit. If your only using the ac adapter and the machine shuts off on you like a power outage with no lights then you know its a problem with the motherboard. With just the ac adapter plugged in, wiggle the cord near where it plugs into the laptop and if it shuts off on you like a power outage then you know its a loose DC Jack and it needs to be resoldered back into place. Hope all this helps.

Looking for the New battery

There are really only two things to do. First, look into a replacement battery. A search on Google of "Satellite m105 battery" usually yields one or two sources of after-market batteries for around $50.

The second is only if your battery is a NiMH (nickel metal hydride) battery. In that case, you can create a power profile in the power or toshiba controls control panels where the computer does not go into hibernation or sleep. Go into the bios and make sure that the computer will not shut down on low power, and you may want to turn off the low power alarm. Then, making sure the computer is not plugged into the AC adapter, let it run until it actually shuts down from draining the battery. Then, don't leave it that way, get it back to a full charge. From then on, if you are working with the computer plugged into AC power from a wall socket, take the battery out.

A good source of info, though it's mainly about NiCd batteries, is: http://www.batteryuniversity.com/
