Every disc I put in says bad disc. So one of the solutions for this was to clean it so I bought a cleaning kit but you put the disc in and it still says bad disc. You can't clean it if it won't play the disc. DOH! I'm about ready to throw this out the window. I worked fine for 3 months and I don't use it very often.

Had an issue getting the tray to auto-retract, and now all DVDs ID as 'bad disc'; the lens inside is clean and the thing's generally responsive to the remote, but of course no DVD will play.
I find by moving the laser head that the (visible!) diode is alive; but disc insertion and injection, as well as disc spinup is very very weak.  I find that the driver IC CD5888CB/GITcm19173N is very hot, as are at least two discrete transistors type D331 (SB550) next to that driver part.  Perhaps if these transistors are replaced, that will remedy the rest.... I could use some corroboration on what's hot in there and what is not.

The problem may be the drive motor capactors are bad and the motor cant get going, put a dvd in and orient the lable ,close and wait a few moments ,open and check to see if the disc moved .

Your dvd head (lens) is bad
(1) it needs to be cleaned by a special fluid puted in the cleaning disc or
(2)it needs to be adjusted because it lit vey low illumination (light) during detecting the details of the disc. and this need a qualified technician ot adjust the variable resistor port attached in the lens assembly unit.

Disc error message when load DVD

Are you loading to play or to record?
Commercial DVDs should play.
DVDs for recording may not be recognized by your drive. First make sure that the disc is blank. You must insert a blank disc of the proper format: DVD-R or RW, DVD+R or RW. Even with the proper format, some brands may not behave the same way as other brands.

Not playing dvds but only trying to load with no success

I had same problem, I resolved by this way..
After opening cover , I found one ribbon wire was not moving freely,(That wire is connecting Lens), After stopping DVD, by hand I have done it free (for easy moving), After that it started working properly.
