Re: How do I open ports in the Virtual Server?

You need to forward the ports used by the application to the server running the application in the Virtual Server, which is present in the router's management screen, as follows. 1. Open your web browser, type in the router's IP address (standard: '') and press enter. 2. Click on Login, Advanced Setup, NAT, Virtual Server. 3. Enter the port details and enable it as follows: Private IP Private Port Type Public Port 192.168.2.x xxx TCP xxx 192.168.2.x xxx UDP xxx

How to setup a virtual server on router

Virtual Server, also referred to as Port forwarding or port mapping can be setup with the router.

The setup of the virtual server depends on what you want to setup.

Virtual server is used to allow computers not on your internal network or computers on the internet to access a resource or service on the internal network.

For example:

Say you have an FTP on your internal network that you want people on the internet to access. To set that up go to the virtual server screen on the router and specify the IP address of the computer on the internal network that has the FTP server on it. The private port that you want to specify would be 21 because port 21 is FTP. The public port could be any number you want it to be, for ease of explanation lets just say it is also 21, that is the port the public would use to access the machine. For a computer on the internet to access the FTP server on the internal machine they would open up a web browser and type FTP://(WAN IP ADDRESS, found on main status page of router screen):21.

A better example would be FTP://

How do i change my NAT to open on my tenda W307R

Im only a couple years late, but i spent an hour on my computer last night to figure it out. Enter your ip adress in the top bar thingy. Enter your username and password. You should now see something with the selections "System Status, Setup Wizard, etc" on the side. Click on Virtual Server. Under Virtual server, you should see something called "DMZ Settings". In there, enter the ip adress of the computer/console you want to open the NAT. Click enable, the hit apply. Your Done.

What to open a port on my router

This is a little tricky for first timers, because the wording is different all over. For instance on Huawei routers its called 'Virtual Server' and to get to it you have to click on 'Basic' and then 'NAT', then click the virtual server button and designate a start and end port number, choose TCP or UDP and then name it, not really simple when its the first time you've ever had to do it!
Essentially this is used to open up a port if an application is having troubles using what is provided by default, most often this is done for P2P programs like torrent downloaders etc so they can get full speed downloads.
If you advise what router you have I can advise further.

Same Problem. Port frowarding not working. Very confusing.

Virtual Server Name can be anything specified by you. Protocol if not sure TCP/UDP, it is better to select "*" which means both. Both public and private port has to be camera's port. Like in your case it is 50001. LAN server is the local IP address of the Camera given by your router's DHCP or a Static Private IP address f0541ce.jpg

Can't Open Ports in my Router

Make sure that you set or assign a static IP to your playstation first through your dlink. This would ensure that your playstation would have its own ip address and wont change each time you restart your playstation. Once you have that fixed then you could use the virtual server and set it to open all ports for your playstation's ip address. If it still did not work then instead of using virtual server, try setting your Playstation as a demilitarized zone. If that still did not work I think it would be best to contact your ISP.

Ftp server

What is the name of the software? Is that an FTP software?
Anyway if you are using DX-E401 Router you can enable DMZ (demilitarized zone) to your PC.

1.access your router configuration page (default ip:
2.go to advanced tab DMZ enable then type the ip address of your server pc
5.apply settings

after that have someone try to access the files in your pc.
if the software you installed is ftp software then have them access it by this

the "internet ip" is the ip address found in the STATUS TAB of your router under the WAN catergory.

If this software you mentioned is using any particular application ports, you will have to open those ports for your server PC.
In that case you will to configure VIRTUAL SERVER. It's the actual term used by dynex. for you to have a general idea how to configure your pc behind your router please go to this link

Virtual server configuration is in pages 22-23. It has detailed explanation of the terms used.

Hope this helps!

Configure the firewall

You can use the Virtual Server to forward an individual port to one of your computers. You cannot forward the same port to multiple computers. In order to configure the Virtual Server you need to know the IP address of the computer that needs the port opened and the service port number. The links below will help you find the IP address of your machine. If you don?t know which port needs to be opened, try checking the software manufacture?s support website for information on use behind firewall. Configuring the Virtual Server: Step 1 Access the device configuration by entering in your web browser. Login with your username and password. The default username is admin and the password is blank. Step 2a If the port you need to forward is a common port, it will be under the predefined virtual server list at the bottom of the page. Click the pad and paper icon next to the virtual server entry you want to use. The Protocol Type and Service Port fields are preconfigured. Click the Enable radio button to use the virtual server. Enter the private IP address of the computer that will use the service port. Configure the Schedule as needed, then Apply your settings. Step 2b If the port you need to forward is not listed under the predefined virtual server list at the bottom of the page, you can create a new entry for your application. Click the Enable radio button to use the virtual server. Give your virtual server a name. Next, enter the private IP address of the computer that will use the service port. Then, select the Protocol Type and enter the Service Port. If you don?t know how to use Private and Public port assignment, then just enter the same port number in both fields. Configure the Schedule as needed and Apply your settings.
