What is the model of your laptop? I don't think you should put win 2003 on your machine. XP is a good OS. Why don't you want to leave Vista on it it your machine is capable of doing that?

Same Problem

-   This laptop of dell does not allow Win Xp SP 2 to install,
It shows the error HDD not dected, but in Vista it doesnot ask any thing.
In Disk management of vista ,It shows a new ESIA partition and have only one rt click option(help?)Nothing else.

Is this ESIA partition is responsible for non detection of hard disk while installation of WIN XP SP 2..

If anybody having any solution regarding this ,thn help me out.....

There is a simple solution to ur problem.
When starting laptop go into bios setup and there find the option "hard disk sata=enable or disable".
Disable it and run setup it will definitely detect the hard disk.

I haven't heard of not being able to delete a partition before. You could go to the manufacturer of the hard drives website and find the software to do a low level format or you could download a linux distribution and use the installer to remove the ESIA partition.

I would need to know the model of hard drive and laptop if you need any further assistance.
