Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it with fresh batteries. If remote control is found irreparable, buy one universal one. You can get all details about how to check and repair a remote control, by this site. It will also guide you to select an appropriate universal remote control too. Setup codes, three digits, four digits or five

You need the original remote controller to be able to switch input modes.Universal ones usually don't work. If you don't have the original remote and can't find it ever or if it is too expensive you can buy an rf modulator ( very cheap) and connect your dvd player, game console etc) to the modulator then connect the modulator to your antenna with a coax cable. This worked for me. It placed the connection to channel 4 and other cable channels are still working,

Before condemming the infared remote receiver, make sure that you have tried and original toshiba
remote control. Sometimes universals do not always
work. If you do have to replace the (IRR), the main circuit board or the button assembly must be removed. The part is soldered in and has only three wires. The approximate cost of the part is around $20. You local service center would probably charge you $80 to $100 for the repair.
If you have already tried a number of universals,
the chances are that the(IRR is defective). Also try the code search on the universal remote sometimes this will work. Scrivitron
Do the same remotes function normally ion other Toshiba TVs? Why don't you chech this out first? There is no possibility of the TV causing the above symptom. I can only think that you are using expired batteries.
