Old sony television picture stays the same

You may have a bad tuner or some loss of signal to the set--also if the set has video input on rear or elsewhere hook something up to see if that works.

I push power on, tv does not turn on.

The reasons can be many for a power failure, but check on:

1. start by checking the continuity from the plug to the main board.
2.Check the fuse on themain board, if fuse is blown check for shorted circuit. check on surge protector, rectifier, filter capacitor or the SM driver.
3. If the SM is not working then the oscillator IC can be faulty.
4. if the SM power supply works but the main board does not , check voltage to all circuits. check for pico fuses being open.
5. The microprocessor must work on the man board. if so the trigger or indiccation LED will light up.
If no trigger check mP then the drive stages of the projector.
Hope you follow on this advice.

Telvision does not turn on

Good Day,
The most common problem with this Model is the Caps on the Main Board, but to make sure pull the codes. Follow this procedure:
This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input/device and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source) 1. MAY BE INTERMITTENT, SELF-DIAGNOSIS ERROR 23 OR 24. CHECK SOLDER CONNECTIONS AT CONNECTOR "DY" ON THE YOKES. 2. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF-DIAGNOSIS ERROR 23 OR 24. CHECK C411 2200 UFD 35 V AND C412 10 UFD 50 V, BOTH LOCATED ON THE MAIN PCB. Good Luck, big IRISH.

It sounds as though you have a damaged the main board ( power supply board). First I would suggest you check the fuses, in both the main board and also the convergence board ( there are two main boards in your set ). Before you start, always use caution by unplugging the set from the wall. To check the fuses, remove the bottom panel cover in the back of the set by removing the screws. Use a flashlight and observe all the fuses you can find and see if any are opened or burned out. ( if the fuse is burned out, it will be black, you may not be able to see if the fuse is just opened without using a continuity checker ( volt ohm meter ) ). Any fuses you find open or burned out, replace with a like fuse ( voltage and amperage ). The set should work fine if a fuse is the problem. If the set doesn't have a bad fuse or won't work after replacing a bad fuse, then you will probably have to seek professional help. Check for service in your area. Good luck. I hope this has helped.

Toshiba Tv 50H71

This is like so many sets I have seen here. This problem has to do with the shutdown circuit turning the set off to protect it. As has been said many times this is a problem with the HV section which inclused the deflection, convergence, and horizontal output. These sections can not be repaired by someone who does not have electronics experience. I would suggest that you take this telvision to a repair shop in your area.
