Yep, as I suspected, the STK412-430 needs to be replaced. That is the most common failure part. Try replacing that and your problem should be resolved.

Front faceplate/grille lights go on and off on their own..unit works perfectly otherwise JVC MX-GC5

Sounds like the unit is in 'demo' mode. Should be a button on the remote to turn this off.

JVC TH-V70 Shuts Down

Hello
Even after disconnecting the speakers, the systems shut down, means that there is something short inside the set. Normally, the output amplifier section circuits will have the short. The set need service, and may have to replace the audio output IC of audio secion. Contact the nearest JVC authorised service center at your town. OK.

My JVC mx-gc5 stereo says protect and then shuts off

If protect is coming up on the display, it means the system is detecting a short somewhere on one of the speakers and so is turning the amp off to avoid damage.
Check all the connections at the back of the amp to ensure they are not shorting, and at the back of each speaker, if nothing is found there, check each wire for damage (like squashed or rodent damage).

My compact component system mx-gc5 keeps turning it self off after u turn it on. it stays on for like 10 sec

This is probably a fault on the power supply sometimes caused by a diode. If you are capable investigate but if not PLEASE dont try anything to put your life in danger as the voltages present in the stereo can easily kill or injure. Good luck.

Protect problem

I'm not really familiar with your specific model, so I don't know what the output stage looks like. I'd guess that this unit has a large black 'amp-pac" for the amplifier section. This should be attached to a heat sink in the rear of the unit. Look to see what the markings are on that part. I expect to see STKxxx. Can you post that here?

Thanks,
Dan

Troubleshoot auxiliary equipment

There is no Phono input on your JVC.

What TT are you trying to hook up? If it's a traditional one you would need a preamplifier to boost the tiny signal from the cartridge to a suitable level for the AUX to use.

If you have an old traditional receiver with a Phono section hanging around you could rig something up between it and your JVC.

Plug the TT into Phono on the old receiver. Run RCA cables from any Tape REC output to the AUX. Done.

Just wanted to know if there was a way to have the audio output come from the JVC 460W MX-GC5 speakers instead of my tv?

If I was reading right there should be an auxillary input in the front if not the back of the stereo. If your TV has matching connectors just run RCA cables from the back of your TV into the AUX. Then your TV might have a menu where you can turn the internal speakers off. I know mine does and mine is very out dated. I hope this helped.
