Paper jam

Does it sound like the motor is spinning? or does it sound like the motor is bound up? I ask because if it sounds like the motor is spinning, then chances are good you stripped a plastic gear somewhere in the drive system that feeds the steel shredder. I just pulled apart one of these and saw that the motor has a steel gear on it. that steel motor gear meets with a plastic gear, and then the plastic gear meets with steel gears attached to, and which spin the shredder. So if you ever bind the shredder with too much paper, the steel motor gear will grind the teeth right off the plastic gear and it won't spin anymore. If your motor sounds like it's bound, then the good news is that the gears aren't stripped. You'll have to take the shredder apart so you can remove the paper causing the problem. Of course unplug it first before opening it up. They are not overly complex but just remember where the screws goes so you put them back in the right holes.

I have a privay Guard model PS-029/MB and I have a brocken plastic gear, can I find this part online?

I have the same problem. The gear that the motor drive shaft touches has been shredded to pieces. when contacting the second gear. The secondary gear is plastic and absolutely WILL shred itself to pieces over a short lifespan (<5yrs) because metal vs plastic is a losing combination.

Motor runs but the shredder does not move. It appears jammed but we have taken out what paper we can.

If the motor runs but the cutting shafts do not turn then most likely a gear has been broken/stripped inside. You will have to open it up to see which gear and then contact the manufacturer for parts.

I jammed the paper got it out but it will not shred now , it is a SH2106PV Shredder i think it is jammed

Hi, Unplug it and flip it upside-down. Use a small screwdriver and tweezers or small needle nose pliers to get as much paper out of the machine rollers as possible. Remount it on the bin and restart it. Run it in forward and reverse. You'll probably have to flip it over and clean it out a few times before it frees up completely, but it will.

Shredder does not pull in paper to be shredded

If it doesn't accept the paper, more than likely the gear coming off of the motor has broken teeth. I think for this model you have to call the manufacturer. Good Luck!
