Question about HP Color LaserJet 2600n Printer

1 Answer

Door open warning at power on

Where is the switch on the 2600n? I have 2 of these and I cleaned the laser/scanner boxes on both of them. 1 came out perfect and runs great! The other comes up with door open when I first turn it on.

Any help would be appreciated!

Sc 990

SC990 [Cause]

Dirty contacts on Upper Right Cover Safety Switches. Toner gets inside the Upper Right Cover Safety Switches, which can lead to lower DC voltage being applied to the Laser Diode. Which leads to:

SC 990 eng_procon.c (when a normal Grayscale pattern was not detected 15 times consecutively during ID Sensor Grayscale pattern check) check with SP 7403 Service Code History look for Detail in history of SC 990.

LD Power not being strong enough to be read by Laser Synchronizing Detector causing a SC 322 or 326 depending upon timing.

5vdc not being fully applied to connector 403 pin 3 on the Laser Diode PCB causing an Open Cover Indication, or 24vdc not being applied fully to connector 107 pin 2 on the PSU PCB causing an Open Cover Indication.

Circuit Explanation: 5vdc (VCCD)is output from connector 403 pin1 of the Laser Diode PCB where it travels through 2 of the Upper Right Cover switches than through 2 of the Front Cover Safety switches before being applied to connector 403 pin 3 of the Laser Diode PCB where it is now used to power the Laser Diode. Lower voltage on pin 3 leads to lower laser diode output which causes the machine to raise LD Power (SP 2-103) when maximum values are reached, laser diode output can not be increased further which can lead to SC 322, SC 326 and/ or SC 990 eng_procon .c. If the voltage drops too low an open door indication is sent to the BICU PCB but a signal is not sent to the IOB PCB which tells the machine which door is open.

Note: An older Drum more than 150,000 copies can also lead to SC 990 by causing incorrect ID Sensor readings

[Resolution]

1. Clean the internal contacts or replace Right Door Safety Switches (2 of Part Number 1204 2521 and 1 of Part Number 1204 2529)

Clean and vacuum the PCU.
Clean the Toner Shield Glass, Charge Roller and ID Sensor.
Check Service history for Drum Life, if over 150,000 replace Drum (Part Number A230 9510)
Reset SP 2103 -1 thru 4 to defaults.(LD Power Adjustments)
Reset SP 2001-1 to its default. (Charge Roller Bias Adjustment)
Execute SP 3001- 2 (ID Sensor Initial Setting)

I changed the laser cartridges and the red seems to come out orange. The colors aren't just right. I have preformed 3 color calibrations. Is there any thing else? I have Vista. HP 2605dn laser printer

Your laser/scanner assy needs cleaning. The main fan, located at the bottom is getting dust from below the printer and blows it to the lower (magenta) mirrors of the laser/scanner assy.
To repair, take the printer apart. Remove side and back covers. Then remove the metal frame with the boards. The laser/scanner is a black box behind the frame. Take it out and open it. Clean the mirrors.
To make the repair permanent, cover the fan's vents with sticky tape. I usually remove the plastic gratings to seal better. It will cause no problems to the printer.

Colours are not alligned properly. prints cyan as a shadow of magenta and black

Go to printer's control panel, using arrows go to Reports and print Configuration page. Look at the bottom colored stripes. If some of them fade to their ends (usually magenta and cyan), then your laser scanner unit's mirrors are dusty and need cleaning. To do so remove back cover and side covers. Disconnect all wires and remove the metal frame with the electronic. The laser scanner unit is a black plastic box behind the frame. Remove its screws and open it. Clean mirrors with lint free cloth with isopropanol or glass cleaner.
The dust occures because the main fan at the bottom, next to the laser scanner assy. Remove the fan's gratings and seal with adhesive tape its vents - one at the bottom, one behind the magenta and cyan toner cartridges. This will not harm the printer.

Hp color laserjet 2600n is printing with all new color cartridges but prints like the magenta is out

imagen.jpg?w=399&h=138 Well look this picture, (the children) are exactly the same, printed with the same cartridges are just in different printers. The right has all its correct tones, and the left is pale, clear, as if he lacked the magenta hue. When this problem occurs, there are 2 causes, and a solution is easy, the other not so much but it works.
Cause 1: Printer is uncalibrated. To fix it we should only go to Control Panel, Settings and look for quality printing, printer calibration, we calibrate a few times and see what happens, does not operate its time to get to the second option.
Cause 2: Mirrors of dirty laser scanner
Mirror dirty laser scanner
The laser mirrors get dirty due to many things, the main blame lies about hp, and who had no rubber gaskets to "optical box" as it says, and the dust that comes in, causing us to blow a printer or same internal fan of the printer is stored in the bottom of the printer to finish the last piece together the laser mirror is the magenta, and that's why when the printer form the mirror image and transfer it to go faulty because the mirror does not project well in the dust which is on the surface. Thus forming the image pale color and lack of final results.
What should we do?
Clean mirrors, p ut to reach them we must completely disarm the printer, which is why I will leave some links to download the manuals.
1) Service Manual Printer hp2600n (English), just for reference but also helps explains how to get to certain parts of the printer, and tell us where are all the sprig, I recommend first ojearlo
I downloaded here: http://cid-4c0169bf00ee97eb.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/Manual% 20of% 20servicio% 20Hp2600n? Uc = 1
Now lower the compressed file that says "LaserJet 2600n Series
2) Manual cleaning of the laser (translated into Spanish), I was compiling info from www.hp.com www.fixya.com and forums, there are people who have disarmed the printer, and good will compile this information and there is a detailed manual with photos and 23 steps, and also gives details of the tools to use.
Click Here http://cid-4c0169bf00ee97eb.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/Manual% 20of% 20servicio% 20Hp2600n? Uc = 1
Now lower the word document that says "dismantling the printer to clean the laser"
I hope this has been helpful, do not hesitate to ask, discuss and disseminate this information that is useful for everyone. Saludos y ... A print away!

I have problem with the left side of the page - Color faded

This is a common fault on this model. The solution is to strip out the laser scanner unit. The laser scanner can be reached by removinh the back metal cover of the printer and the controll boards behind it. You need to clean the mirrors inside the laser scanner, for this you can use surgical spirits and cotton ear buds.Hope this helps. Any other queries, you can mail me renierfeldtmann7@gmail.com
