It probably has a virus or some malware that is keeping it from functioning. Try inserting into the computer and run a scan disk or a disk cleaner on it. I did two like that yesterday with a scan disk program that appeared one day on my computer and they are fine now. Unfortunately it didn't work on the third and I had to Format it, which wipes them clean. If you are like I was didn't care if that one was wiped clean then just format it. If not try the clean-disc software in them. If you don't have anything like that on your computer, then not to worry free one's are a dime a dozen on the Internet. dhgill

MOUSE WILL NOT WORK

You haven't said what kind of mouse you have or whether it used to work.
I'll offer some suggestions for the most common problems:
If it used to work but now doesn't, try a system restore back to when it did work.
If that doesn't work--are you using a wireless mouse? If so, are the batteries fresh and are they inserted correctly?
If you are using a wireless mouse, have you pushed the little "connect" button on the bottom?
You haven't said, but is the other mouse a wireless one or a USB mouse? If your USB mouse doesn't work, try another USB port. If you go into the device manager, do you see a "human interface device" or a "mouse" listed? If so, it will tell you the system recognizes the device. If that is missing, there is a good chance the mouse is dead.

How do fix a new usb that says it is write proctected?

'usb' is just a type of port used on many devices to connect other devices. Are you connecting to a computer? Does the error message appear on a computer screen as soon as you plug the other device in? Is the device itself displaying a message? What does the message say?

It's important when you have a problem to tell people who might help you the following:
What type of device are you using? (and software system for a computer)
What action did you do, and what happens?
Does the problem happen every time you do that action?
Did the device work differently before?

I keep getting message saying my pc will run faster with 2.0 hi-speed host. how do i get it

Hi! Welcome to FixYa!

USB versions are USB ver 1.1 and USB 2.0 and USB 2.0 has faster transfer rate.
When you're receiving this kind of message, that means you're using a USB device that is compatible with USB 2.0. This happens when you plugged in a USB 2.0 device to a USB 1.1 port on your computer. It simply notifies you that the USB device can perform faster when you have an available USB 2.0 port. I'm not really sure what kind of computer you have and what version of windows you have but you can actually check if you have USB 2.0 by going to Device Manager, click on Universal Serial Bus Controllers and look for "USB2 Enhanced Host Controller" if you don't have this, that means your computer has no USB 2.0 port. Hope this helps.

CAN NOT FIND THE DRIVERS FOR MY MC760 USB MODEM

From what I found the drivers from Virgin Mobile do not always work.

This link is for an original Novatel Ovation MC760-Virgin Mobile Broadband2Go install package on Google Docs kindly provided by Headworx:\
https://docs.google.com/uc?export=download&confirm=no_antivirus&id=0B9nmw2Nv8RaaYWFhMmU4YjEtOGE5Zi00NjIzLWJhNjctNzI4ZTk5NTFhYzc2

Remove the USB modem. Uninstall all things Virgin Mobile and Novatel, programs and in the Device control panel; run LiteAuto.exe from the zip file; then plug the USB modem back in. Driver package will auto install.

Let me know if you need anything else!

Hey, some keys stopped working on my aspire ethos 5943g.. keys like space, m, k, i, x, e, f ... I would like to know if that's a common thing and how to fix it, and it would be great if you could give...

Hi
Please tell us what recently happened after the keyboard was working well?
You can -kindly- use air blower to remove dust from between keys
It's not easy - especially for the non-technical - to unpack the laptop to remove the keyboard

By the way, you can use external usb-keyboard to go on.

The mouse works but when we type on the keyboard, nothing happens

Hi. Well you didn tell what kind of keyboard are you using. Is it a USB or a wireless. I am assuming that it is a USB keyboard.
  1. 1st of all check whether the key board is properly plugged in2 your machine properly, check for loose connections.
  2. Check whether you have plugged it into the correct port, because usually the the internet keyboard do not adapt to the USB port, and a PS/2 to US adapter port wont work.
  3. Download and install the latest Keyboard Software
  4. Before installing the new driver dont forget to uninstall the previous one, install the new one and reboot.

Hook up to usb port, nothing happens

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Nikon Transfer or any other photo cataloging program.
