I am getting a very slow connection suddenly through WRTP5G router

My Internet crawls and I can't send attachments out of my Outlook email. Also am not able to send faxes. Also having some sporadic connection problems with Vonage. The problem seems to be related to the router - it I hook up to the broadband directly, the issue does away. Unsure how to troubleshoot the router. Getting no support from Linksys

Try resetting you wireless adapter, sometimes that resolves the issue. You could also check your connection status and try to repair the connection there. Or turn off your PC then the router then the modem wait 10 minutes power up the modem after all the lights are lit turn on the router when all those lights are on turn on your PC, then recheck your connection status and repair if needed.

Check with your Internet service provider which ports are open for outlook. If you do a Google search - like Verizon FIOS outlook ports - it will give you the correct ports.

Problem sending email using Outlook 2010 on a PC and Linksys wireless network

i doubt the router has anything to do with the problem. most likely culprit is a pop server (handles incomming email). check with your email provider to see if they changed servers...
have you made any changes to your router or firewall? i guess it could be a port that got closed that your email was using
eh, here is a usefull website shows server names and ports used

How can I fix my error 530 problem in outlook?

Your Outlook settings work fine at home, sending/receiving mail. You're on the road now, and you can no longer send, but only receive mails. You're getting an Error 530 or Outlook error 0x800CCC78.

The problem is the on-the-road ISP may be blocking port 25, and/or your ISP might not accept mail being relayed from other network domains. SBC Yahoo allows you to change your SMTP port from 25 to 587. Most ISPs let port 587 flow through. Internet access works, receiving email works, you just can no longer send.

Solution:

  • Go to Outlook, Tools, Accounts, Server, Advanced, and change the SMTP port from 25 to 587. Hit Apply, OK, then exit/restart Outlook.
  • Start Outlook, create a test email and send it. Should work fine.
  • The solution might vary with other ISPs. Your home ISP must support an alternate port for SMTP TCP traffic, and the current ISP providing you access must not block that alternative port.
  • Recognize this is all the fault of spammers and the ISPs trying to slow them down. This is why they block port 25 for non-customers.

If this doesn't work, just change the port back to port 25.
Alternatively, as with SBC Yahoo mail, you can always use the Webmail interface. This, like all other web pages, uses port 80, which ISPs do not block.

My email does not come thru when my computer is connected to the router

did it work before? what did you change on your router? can you change it back?. does it work when you computer is directly connected to your modem?

if you download your email into an email client (outlook, outlook express, other)? you may need to configure the port forwarding on your router to allow the port used for this type of information to come through.

first find out the ports used, (if you use pop3 the port number is 110) but find out what specific ports are being used as per your email client configuration.
now go into your router's configuration page and go to the port forwarding section (under advance configuration) on you router and enable these ports if they are not enabled already enabled. (if your router is in fact blocking this ports this where the blocking happens) unless there's a good reason for you to configure this, do it otherwise leave the advance settings alone.

your router manual can be found here

good luck

Ask you Internet Service Provider regarding this problem. Definitely, it is not a problem from your end like your software or router. It in a slow internet connection from your ISP.

Emails problems will not send out

it shouldn't have anything to do with the router, the ports for emails are automatically opened and allowed by windows, assuming you are using outlook or similair you should not have been able to send emails using another connection as you would have to change the smtp settings to send mail through the connection server, in this case if you have a internet security programme you may find it is checking outgoing mail for viruses and sometimes they get put in your outbox and never sent, if this is the cas dissable scan outgoing email in your security software. If you are sending mail through your online mailing web page eg. hotmail then there is a problem with the e mail you are sending perhaps too large a file or a file that requires you to zip it for security reasons.
