How do I change margin setrtings foe Lexmark P4350

If you are preparing to print a document that you have created in Microsoft Word, you may be concerned that all the text on the page will print exactly as you see it on your screen. This is not always the case. You can adjust your print margins to ensure that your text prints on each page exactly the way you would like it to appear.

Opening Your Document
Open your Microsoft Word document by double-clicking the Word icon on your desktop. If you do not see the icon on your desktop, then you can locate it where it is buried on your "Start" menu. Click "Start," followed by "All Programs." Then click "Microsoft Office," followed by "Microsoft Office Word." A new document will open on your screen. Click the "Office Button," followed by "Open." Scroll through the files listed, and double-click the one you would like to print. It will open on your screen.

Check Your Margins
By default, your page margins are set to 1-inch margins on the top, bottom, right and left of your page. You can check your margins or change them by clicking "Page Layout," followed by the "Margins" button.

Select New Margins
Select a different margin size, such as "Narrow," which indicate 1/2-inch margins, or "Wide," which indicate one-inch margins on the top and bottom and two-inch margins on the left and right. You also can select "Moderate," which indicate one-inch margins on the top and bottom and 3/4-inch margins on the left and right. Finally, you can select "Mirrored," which indicates one-inch margins for the top, bottom and outside. The inside margins are set at 1 1/4 inches.

Print Your Page
Print your page. Press "Control" plus the "P" button. The printer dialog menu will come up. Make sure that "All Pages in Range" is selected. Press "OK." If your printer cannot print your new margins, then a new menu will pop up telling you to adjust your margins.

I hope you find it very helpful. Best regards.

I can't get my computer to print because it keeps saying the margins of section 1 are set outside the printable area of the page. I have a meeting to go to and It's important that I get this paper off the...

I assume this error is occuring in Microsoft Word.
  1. To see the margin settings of your document, go to File > Page Setup (or Page Layout > Margins > Custom Margins for Word 2007).
  2. Click OK on the margins dialog, and Word will check the settings against your currently selected printer. If a margin is set outside the printable area (usually the bottom margin set to zero), you should see the warning message.
  3. Click the Fix button to have Word change the margins
to match your printer. You should now see the Margins dialog with the new margin settings.
  4. Click OK.

Hello,
To reset the margins you need to first release the margins. Once you have released the margins you will be able to set the left and right hand margins.
Thanks,

Changing margins

To change or reset margins, the keys involved are the ALT key to the left of the spacebar, the #keys 3,4, & 5.

The ALT & '3' keys are used to bypass the set margins.

To bypass the left margin, move the carrier to the left margin. Press the ALT & '3' keys at the same time. Release them then backspace the carrier to the point the new margin is wanted. Press the ALT and '4' keys at the same time to set the new left margin.

To bypass the right margin, move the carrier to the right margin. Press the ALT & '3' keys at the same time. Release them and spacebar to the point where the new right margin is wanted. Press the ALT & '5' keys to set the new right margin.
The main thing to remember is to move the carrier to the point where the new margin is needed. ALT + 3 bypasses old margins, ALT + 4 sets the left margin, & ALT + 5 sets the right margin.

  • Step 5 Type a new measurement for whichever margins you would like to change or use the arrows to move up and down throughout the measurements you can select for each option.

Margins will not hold, have to keep resetting them.

Auto margins are permanently stored in the Swintec 8014S. If you set new margins within those margins, they should hold. If you set them outside of the auto margins you will have to use the MAR REL key to release the auto margins, and then set the new margins. All margins are set by pressing the Left or Right Margin Set keys.

These settings are stored in a memory circuit that is powered by a battery that is automatically charged when the typewriter power is on. If you still have trouble with the margins releasing after you turn off the machine, you can try one of the following:
    (1) Keep your typewriter on for a couple of hours so the battery can recharge and then save your margin settings
    (2) Replace the battery which may have died after all these years. You would need to bring your Swintec to a local dealer for the part and replacement service.

    Hope this helps!
