Its a common problem with Laptop after a year i guess.. mainly in case of Acer. the reason behind these issue is due to loose connection of the screen and the main laptop body.. i dont think your laptop is underwarranty. so boss have to spend a bit of money and also get a new compitable video card.. cheer!!

Desk top dell has a black screen

If your dealing with a black screen on a dell desktop it could mean a couple things. First make sure your monitor is connected to the back of the computer. Second make sure its connected to the right video card because there may be 2 of them. The one at the top is the on board video and a lot of people add a better one in a pci slot towards the bottom. In event that is not the case and the monitor is turned on it could be a faulty video card, bad driver, or the video card needs reseated.
1. turn off computer Sometimes when moving desktops pci cards are jarred and need reseated.
2. Open the case at the back by removing the two screws holding on the side panel
3. then remove the screw that is holding the pci video card, pull out the card
4.then reseat
5.rescrew
6. restart
if this doesn't fix the issue then buy a video card that is compatibly to your motherboard and replace it

if it is an onboard video card buy a pci or pci-e or a video card that is compatible for your computer

Aspire One AO725-0635 powers up but screen is black with white lines. Not dropped, just happened suddenly. We powered down, removed and put back battery. Still monitor black with white lines. Help! ...

Lets step through some trouble shooting. Can you plug in an external computer monitor? If this works then it is cable connections to the notebook monitor. If a normal computer monitor does the same thing it is potentially video settings or hardware. Since there is some kind of output then the video card is outputting so it us not likely the video card has failed not impossible just less likely. If the external monitor works and the laptop one still fritzed check the video settings are right. If video settings are ok then it could also be cables issue on the laptop. Faulty RAM chip can also cause the problem as described this is also worth checking.

Screen rolls

Either your screen is bad or the video card inside the computer is bad. Try connecting an external monitor to the computer to isolate the problem. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker. If the Borrowed monitor displays ok, then your video card is ok, but your lcd screen is bad. If the Borrowed monitor rolls and does not work, then the video card inside the computer is bad.

It can be any kind of monitor even the old big fat crt monitors as long as it has a vga cable to connect to your computer's vga port. If so that proves your video card is ok. The video will show on most systems when you reboot without you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit the FN (Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the correct key for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key will normally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display.

Black screen on start up

Hello,

When you turn on the laptop and get a black screen, does it sound like the computer is still running(are any lights lit up etc) ? If so, then you possibly have a bad video display. I would highly recommend visiting a repair shop or contacting the manufacturer of our laptop for service repairs.

If the laptop is plugged up to any other display, or TV , unplug it and reboot.

If it does not sound/look like your laptop is actually turning on then you may have a power issue. You can try some of the following tips to see if it resolves your issue.
-Leave the laptop charging for 10 minutes then try and turn it on. It may not be charged up enough.
-Try a new power cable
-Try a new battery
-Try a different wall to charge the laptop.

Regards,

I have an HP pavilion dv9540us laptop that is having screen issues. I can only get the screen to work randomly...and then only for a few minutes. If i restart the computer it goes completly black or has...

See if the problem is there when you boot into safe mode. (Keep tapping the F8 key while booting). If you get your screen is working ok then it is software/driver related. By the sound of it , it is a graphics card problem. The graphics are integrated on this model so it means a new motherboard or sending it to a specialist repairer. Srri.

Vertical dashes and dots on dell logo screen

I had a similar problem 3 weeks ago.
Unfortunately i bought a new video card for that computer.
Also verify if memory modules are ok, i mean 1 memory module could be damaged.
If not, with all respect, your video card could be damaged. Verify if video card cooler is ok.

Today I noticed that when turning on computer, after 1-2 mins the screen goe black and I cant see anything. I noticed in the past month that occasionaly I get lightening flashes in the background. this...

To determine if the LCD screen is faulty ot the video card, connect an external monitor to the laptop's video port. Power up the external monitor first and the boot up the laptop. The video image should automatically switch to the external monitor. If you don't get flashes on the monitor then the video card is OK and the fault lies with the LCD screen. Flashes coud be caused by a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. A fault is usually easier to diagnose when it is not intermitten.

It sounds like you may be adjusting the monitor out of its usual range that its capable of displaying. Try a slightly lower resolution to see if it does the same thing. Also check device manager to make sure your video card is being detected properly. It should have the name of the video card listed but no ? or ! next to it. You can try updating the video driver by going to the Support page on the manufacturers website and entering your product model name/number or its serial number/service tag number.

You can try adjusting the screen size, but if it goes black leave it for about ~30 seconds. Windows pops up a box when you change the resolution to make sure it's working OK or else it automatically changes the resolution back in about 30 seconds.

This can be caused by:

1.The monitor is not connected properly.
2. Bad hardware

Verify that the monitor is properly connected in the back of the monitor as well as to the back of the computer.

If the connections are OK it means that monitor or the video card is probably damaged. To test which component is dameged connect a different monitor to your computer or connect your monitor to a different computer.

If the other monitor works on your computer it means that your monitor is bad and if your monitor works on another computer it means that you probably have a damaged video card.

or

The solution to your problem is probably not the monitor, follow these steps:
1. Connect and boot your computer with 2 different monitors.
2. If it does'nt work with either of them the problem is from another computer component.
Posible Problems:
1. Your video card may be damaged or moved from it's slot.
2. Your proccessor may be damaged.
Posible solutions:
1. If you have computer hardware knowledge open the case
2. Remove the Video card.
3. Insert it back or insert another video card from a friend.(if it works with your friends card, obviously the video card is the problem)
4. Restart your computer and see if it works.
Now if it does'nt work after that you will have to replace your proccessor with one that works, from a friend, because you say your computer boots but if your monitor doesn't work you don't know for sure if it boots corectly.
The steps above are only for people with hardware knowledge, if that is not your case you should contact a computer service.
