some printers has special tray to put small papers in.

printer supports it. just you have to goto printing preferences or printer properties and set rear tray to accept glossy paper. it will accept size of paper ur using. so give the actual size.

Did you try a test print. Most printers have a option to set the ink color, this is done when your computer asks you if you want to print. Look for an options tab and search for ink color options pick black only and try a test print. The test print is done on printer set up. If all else fails try the manual it usually has a troubleshoot section. Oh yes make sure you have the correct usb port some are configured at a lower level ( mine has 2 different ones a 2.0 and a 3.0 the 3.0 is blue when you look inside of it) my 2.0 port wouldn't set up my printer I had to use the 3.0 port. If the line is vertical on the print this is most likly not a print head issue. I would be more inclined to think there is a physical contaminant that might be "scoring" the print or scraping of the ink as the photo leaves the printer. Hold the print at an angle and shine a light on it to see if there is a difference to the surface of the print. Investigate the printer for obstructions and contamination. Pay particular attention to the feed mechanism.

Check your printing preference.
You may be in print in grayscale.

check all inks replace as required run test first check leads

Clean the timing strip.

Solution 2:
The purge cap (the white sliding mechanism that the print head parks to when it's not in use) may be not lubricated well enough .

Lubricate the sliders with some white grease (don't get it on the small wipers or the black caps); this repair probably require to remove the right panel off of the printer to gain access to the purge mechanism.

You do know that you can use 4 x 6 photo paper in the paper feed? or else you have to tuck it into that little try under the printing outlet and be sure to click the change of feed button on the upper right of the console.
