Just download the free version 8.0, ive installed it on loads of machines ive sorted out and its good enough, i used to have the 1 year subscription but i use the free version now aswell. just remove the version you have now from the add/remove in your control panel then you have a fresh install.

Please tell me whichanti virus is best for my PC

That's like asking which car company is best or which cell phone company. Ten people would give you ten different answers.

There's a couple free ones that are some what highly regarded: AVG Free is beloved many people as is MS Security Essentials.

I couldn't speak to the quality of paid solutions like McAfee or Norton as I haven't used them in many years. As long as you have something it should be better than nothing at all!

I have been having a problem lately with my desktop pc,windows xp

Try running the system in VGA mode.
I assume this is a windows machine.
So hit f8 just before the loading Windows screen comes up. and choose Safe mode .
Then set your video card properties to VGA and reboot, that should get you back into windows.
once in, reload your video card drivers.
All should be good...

Message says my subscription has expired? I purchased Internet Security from Nortons on 12/7/07 why has it expired? It appars I am no longer protected and do not understand why this is.

Most of the Norton antivirus comes with one year subscription. date u mentioned here seems like more then 1 year old. That's why it says expired
If you dont want to spend any more money on antivirus then uninstall this one and download AVG from this site. this is really good antivirus for free and good for ever.

I purchased the Norton 360 Version 2.0 yesterday, and am trying to load it onto my machine. After checking for an updated version, I get an error message saying that the updated version will not load onto...

If you are having problems installing security software, and have 1500 documented problems, you may have a severe MALWARE infection. MALWARE (Virus, Spyware, adware etc.) often attack, disable or prevent the installation of security software.

Depending on the severity and how deeply imbedded the walware infection is determines the final resolve. UNfortunately, the final answer often is a complete reformat and reinstall of the operating system.

Things you can try:

If you can, download and run SPYBOT Search and Destroy from www.download.com

Other applications you may try to attack the problem are:

AVG antivirus from free.avg.com
ccleaner and Smitfraud fix from http://www.gur.in/download/

Often, it is just too much work to get rid of a massive infection and mort effective to format and start with a clean drive and install the security software before re-connecting to the internet.

I was under the impression I had AVG Internet Security on my computer. Now I am getting notice I need to re-do and then they tell me I have a problem. Please help me. Thank you.

my personal suggestion would be to uninstall AVG! but, first visit this website and download Avast! It's work so much better for me than AVG. I give avast 2 thumbs up, and recomend it for any pc. and yes it's free-ware, don't worry. :) hope this helps.

AVG Internet Security 7.5 will not install

Make sure that you un-install any other previous Antivirus/Internet Security software on your computer (including any previous versions of AVG). Then try installing AVG again.

I installed Norton 360 security software yesterday and today a pop up tells me there is a problem with the set up and I should try to install again with the same CD when I start to do this the CD pop up...

Deans867,

read carefully..Its probably telling you to insert the CD so it uninstalls and then re-installs Norton 360. When it uninstalls it gives u a warning message "you will loose 366 days. .. "

Just a Note: Norton 360 will slow your PC down. and do unwanted things. I have trouble shot issues involving Norton 360 and wireless connection issues amongst many others.. If you can return it your better off without it.

It is cheaper and more effective to purchase such products as:
AVG or Kaspersky
or maybe even a Opensource Freebie like:
Calmwin from Sourceforge.net

Good luck,
