Amana heat pump 13 seer split system when in heat pump mode once the thermostat is satisfied the head pressure on the high side shoots up to 600

410 a runs at a much higher pressure then r-22. that is still very high. it would take a temperture over 150 degrees to produce it on a idle system.

What does it mean to

Reflow sounds like the article is referring to cracked solder joints, Reflow would mean to reheat the connection and top up means adding some more solder. In electronics, heavy heat sinks often crack where they are soldered because of expansion and contraction. RCA actually came out with a more flexible solder for this issue.

What does the term "scratch" mean in reference to playing billiards?

When a player scratches, they pocket the cue ball. In the past players used to keep score on a chalkboard, so when a player pocketed the cue ball, his opponent would proceed to "scratch" a point off the shooters score.

Where is the reset button on an Amana ASZ14 unit?

I don't think the Amana ASZ14 Heat Pump has a reset switch, but you can still reset it by resetting the power (when it's not running... turn your thermostat OFF first).

To reset the power, locate your circuit breaker box. There should be a double-breaker for the Heat Pump and another double-breaker for the Air Handler. Turn them both off for at least 2-3 minutes. Then flip them back on and turn your thermostat back ON.

You're thermostat may also have a RESET button that you can push. I have to reset mine every time I change the batteries in it.

Have tempstar model NFCX3600CZ Ser# L0239 58594 and unit will not switch from head mode to cool mode. Contractor says it's a bad reversing valve. cost will be $525 to fix. Question estimate.

I am a Technician myself and work for myself. Their price is fine if they don't try to add as they go. Reversing valves are delicate to install and you have the issue of recovery and disposal of the freon that was inside your unit. I am not siding with the Technicians either there are good ones and bad ones. Did this technician come out and test the unit or was this a quote on the phone? Depending on the age of your heat pump I would consider other factors. We also are nearing the end of the R-22 age and moving to better more efficient units that conserve energy. SEER rating means a lot if you add the cost of energy. The newer styles of heat pumps work under extreme pressure. The higher the seer number the lower the cost for energy. Your model may be a 10 seer I will look after I finish this post. Let me know the age of your heat pump. Remember a heat pump works all year round and not just summer months so life span is reduced. Thanks, Sea Breeze

I need help selecting the best Amana 5 ton furnace/ac.

I believe you are asking which furnace to go with?

Just some clarification first.

The "condensor" is the outdoor unit.
A "Compressor" is the device inside the outdoor unit that pumps and "compresses" the refridgerant.

An evaporator is the indoor coil, it has refridgerant running through it.

The furnace is completely seperat from the condensor and evaporator.

I "THINK" you are saying that you are looking to buy an AMANA system with a 5 ton 14 to 16 SEER condensor, and a furnace, but you need suggestions on the furnace.

typically when you purchace a condensor, the evaporator coil is simply matched by the manufacturer to the specific condensor you purchace, there is no choosing to deal with. All condensors ofcourse come with a compressor already installed.

If my assumption about your request is correct, maybe this will help.

Amana's 90+ furnaces are great units. I would recomend them to anyone. The 80+ uses a somewhat inferior heat exchanger, and is ofcourse less efficient.
Anything higher than a 90+ can take quite a while to recoup the costs of the enitial purchace through your efficiency savings.

If it were my home, I would go with the 90+ furnace, and the 16 SEER Condensor/evaporator system. But ultimatly, its up to you, your efficiency standards and your wallets potential.

If you live in a northern state where AC is little needed, I'd go with the 14 SEER AC.
Again, an initial cost verses long term savings issue.
