Since any of these steps might restore connectivity, you may want to retest after each one where you've changed something. Test by pinging the router's or access point's IP. If the ping is successful, then you know that the connection is restored. See Testing Connections with Ping: , which has simple instructions (and a few tips for advanced users). 1. Disable software firewalls and anti-virus software. (This must be done for the rest of the troubleshooting to succeed. After troubleshooting, you will want to consider turning these back on, again.) 2. Check whether the wireless computer gets a signal from the router or access point. If not then: 2a. Go to any computer that is wired to the router or access point, and open the configuration page to check the SSID, the region, the access list and WEP settings. 2b. Verify all the settings in Step 2a match the settings in the wireless computer. 2c. If WEP is enabled, verify that the WEP settings from Step 2a match the settings in the wireless computer. 3. If there is a signal from the router or access point to the wireless computer, then check for a valid computer IP address. (If it is or 169.254.X.X, it cannot be a valid IP address.) 4. Reset the router or access point. If this does not solve the problem, then optimize your wireless transmission as described here:

Can I use a D-Link DI 634M as an access point?

Sure you can! As you can with any wireless router pretty much.

1. Assign the new router (AP) to an IP on your subnet that's not your existing router's IP... i.e.
2. Disable the DHCP server on the "AP"
3. Create a new wireless network on the "AP"
4. Plug your existing network/router into a LAN port

Voila! You have an access point!

I am not able to properly set up my network with an ASUS Wl-500B

Both routers need to be on the same IP scheme and subnet i.e. 192.168.0.X subnet First, unplug the Asus router. Next, make sure you have connection to the internet by hooking directly to the Apple router. Once you've established a connection to the internet plug the Asus router into the Apple router but go LAN port to LAN port.

D-LINK DI-514 LAN Ports not working

  1. Connect a cable from your PC to one of the four plugs. Not the WAN port.
  2. Setup the wireless the way you want it.
  3. Then give this router a different IP, like
  4. Then you have to disable the DHCP server in the router (keep in mind now you have to set your desktop or laptop that is conencted to it to a static IP to still communicate with the router)
  5. Once this is done just plug you existing network into one of the four ports. Not the WAN port.
  6. It will now act as a wirelessa access point.
Althoug this is doable it is not recommended as this router is a pile of **** and the wireless is crappy.

I would suggest a dedicated wireless access point.

My WAN light keeps flashing while the M1 amber light remain fix at ON(M2 amber light = OFF)

You must have done something wrong when upgrading the firmware. because there are pre-requisite settings on the computer before performing an upgrade. Like setting static ip and forcing  card to 10mb/half only prior to upgrading. If this flashing is unusual, then you mightn have damage the wan port.

just to let you know, wan port will really flash but not that continous.
