Get an "YESSIM" or "TurboSim" card from e-Bay, approximately $5.00USD plus shipping...........

Not.... yet the only way at the moment to go around it is to buy a supersim, golden sim yessim or similar.
the good thing about this type of unlock is you can update all you want without having to worry if your cracked phone will still work, the bad news is it cost you anywhere between 15 and 100 Euro just google on any of the sims mentioned above to find a seller.

Hi,There are several way to carrier unlock a iPhone 3g.You can call the service provider and requesting him to unlock your Iphone this may take few weeks or months or you can unlock it by taking your mobile to the near by mobile shop, this is not reliable because in some case the iPhone may get damaged or you can use the remote unlock service which is provided by the site TheUnlockSpot.com .You can avail the service by providing some basic information about your phone like the country and the network to which your mobile is currently locked to.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Unfortunately, it won't work.
AT&T is using 850 and 1900 (UMTS band II/V). T-Mobile USA is using 1700 and 2100 (UMTS band IV).
The iPhone 3G supports "UMTS/HSDPA (850, 1900, 2100 MHz)"
Only one T-Mobile USA frequency is supported by the iPhone 3G, which, as you've discovered, is the Edge network.

If you cannot remember the passcode , you will need to restore your device on the computer that was used to originally sync the iPhone or iPod touch so that you can reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced to theiPhone or iPod touch, you will be able to unlock the device for use andremove the passcode but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone and iPod touch softwarehttp://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212
