You may have a faulty hard drive, or a corrupt boot ini file.

As long as you have set the cdrom as first boot device in the bios set up (F2 or Del on boot up) you should get passed this point and get the option to press Enter to boot from cd rom, if not you have'nt set it to check the cd drive first and it will just try to boot into windows.

It will occur when your system unit restarted, and when the system try to boot the specified hardware ex. hard disk where the operating system where stored. this text will appear in your screen("missing NTLDR"). then you cannot proceed to windows. cause the system files cannot boot to it's main purpose.C). My computer displayed; PRI: master disk HDDS.M.A.T Capability disabled NTLDR is missing press Ctrl + Altr + Delete So what can I do?

This means that the Windows has crashed. NTLDR is the program that loads Windows NT. Try rebooting in safe mode. If the problem still persists then reinstall Windows. Follow the link below to save your data and still reinstall Windows.

CANT BOOT FOR REINSTALLATION OF XP, IT SEZ "NTLDR" IS MISSING, ALSO MENTIONS SOMETHING ABOUT THE HARD DRIVE NOT WORKING

If you have the OS disks try a repair first. Run the OS disk and choose the repair option rather than reformatting. That usually fixes ntldr issues.

Replacing with harddrive 40GB

Did you simply swap hard drives? "Couldn't find NTLDR" basically means the PC cannot find any version of Windows installed because the boot file is missing. This could be because you have a CD in the drive or the hard drive is missing or broken.

If you put in a new hard drive to replace your older smaller one you need to reinstall Windows on that new 40GB drive or it just won't work. If you have some PC Tech friends they should be able to move the data which is tricky or help you out.
