Typically - when this happens - the gas valve solenoid is failed, and needs replacement.

The flame sensor (thermocouple) may also be the culprit if it is failed - it will not tell the valve there is a flame present.

Check those out.

Thanks!

Whirlpool Duet Gas Dryer Model GGW9250PW3 Only Heats after resetting power

Always first unplug the dryer from the wall outlet and then ohm test the thermal fuse, then disconnect the flame sensor and ohm test that, its located on the side of the burner tube. Remember no continuity going through it means it bad. Also, clean all the lent out of the dryer this should be done on a regular basis. I attached a website that has videos that will help you find the parts. I Hope this helps Tim

No heat in the dryer. It is Maytag Neptune gas dryer about 9 years old. The drum rotates just fine but heat stopped a couple of days ago.

I have a whirlpool gas dryer, 4 years old. i

It sounds like the heating filament below the drum has either fried one of the fuses down there, or has some lint or something fallen on to it.
Did you notice if the drum still heated up? If it did, then its a bit trickier to completely ID what went wrong. If it no longer heats up now, then the thermal cut-off fuse has been blown and will need to be replaced (most common problem with a dryer)
Typically, once it is unplugged, you can open up the panel below the door (there are normally a couple of latches along the top gap that you need to push in with a couple of screwdrivers to open). Once open, you should see a heating coil that provides the hot air to the drum, look to see if there is anything in contact with the coil. If there is something there, remove it. If not, then continue below.
Now, if your dryer has stopped heating up, you need to pull the coil and replace the thermal cut-off fuse (or get someone in to do it for you). If it was still heating up, you can start the dryer with the panel open (make sure everyone and everything is well clear of the opening) and see where it is smoking from.

Maytag mdg6700aww gas dryer runs but heat kicks out after 5 min

You have bad coils on your main gas valve . They tend to short (open) after getting warm which cuts off the gas to the burner . After cooling , they will work again for another 5 min until shorting again . Replace the coils (2 in a kit ).

Dryer won't run right

The motor in your unit has to be replaced. The centrifical sw can't seem to keep the motor going. The shaft may spin freely, but once power is present the shaft locks up therefore your over amping the motor and it then trips the breaker. Since you already had the unit apart you will do fine replacing the motor. Good luck
