You leave all remaining pieces in the machine unless they are cracked or twisted.

Clean the print head for an HP F380

If the cartridges are new, make sure you removed the, (sometimes clear), tape that the manufacturer places over the shinny metallic ink distribution slots, (shinny objects on the underside of the cartridges, like the previous answers have described). Otherwise, make sure the cartridges are the correct model for your printer, and I use a dab of alcohol on my q-tips to clean off old dried ink from the contacts. The contacts are very obvious once the cartridges are removed. Make sure to unplug the printer once you have removed the cartridges to access the contacts, before cleaning. And be gentle with the contacts, rub gently. And clean the cartridge contacts and ink dispensing slots as well, and gently as well. As previously mentioned, you should get ink on the q-tip when cleaning the ink distribution slots. Three colors, yellow blue and red from the color cartridge and black from the black cartridge. So clean the contacts first, then do the ink dispensers last to avoid adding ink to the contacts with a ink soggy q-tip. Good luck and be gentle.

Whereas my print cartridges are full the printer prints neither solid black or colors. I appears that the print head is plugged

Remove the cartridges and shake them to loosen the ink inside. Then soak the heads in denatured alcohol for a few seconds and wipe the excess with a "Q" tip trying not to leave any cotton lint on the heads. Then perform the clean cartridges in the printer properties.

Color Cartridge

Hi,

When this error appears in your printer check if ink are smeared on the holder where the contact panel is with the cartridge. To fix this issue use the Kleenex(perfume ) added with few drops of water to dampen it and clean off those contact on the holder. You should let the unit sit 24 hours for best results. Before printing anything run aligned thecartridgesa couple times then run clean cartridges a couple of times. Print the test page to look for the condition.

Thank you !!

Printer not printing photos with all colors

  1. Lift the printer access door, then remove the ink cartridges from the printhead.
  2. Verify that the label on the ink cartridges is intact, and that the cartridges are not damaged.
  3. Verify that the KODAK Ink Cartridges have not been refilled.
  4. Insert the ink cartridges into the printhead, then press down firmly until you hear them click into position.
  5. Close the printer access door.
  6. Check the printer status monitor on your computer (or the LCD screen on the printer) to determine if there is sufficient ink available for your print job.
  7. NOTE: Once the "Black ink cartridge is low" or "Color ink cartridge is low" message is displayed, print quality can be affected.
  8. Reprint the picture or document that had the quality problem
If still same quality then...
  1. Load inkjet paper into the paper tray.
  2. On the control panel, press Menu.
  3. Select Calibrate Printer.
  4. Select Print Calibration Page
  5. Press Start.
  6. When the print is complete, press Cancel to end the calibration process.
  7. Check the six color bars on the printed calibration sheet.
  8. 5000calsheet_color_bars.jpg

If no then:

  1. Press Menu.
  2. Select Clean Printhead, then press OK.
  3. Select Deep Clean, then press OK. The On/Off light flashes green during the cleaning procedure.
  4. When the On/Off light glows steady, press OK.
  5. Select Calibrate Printer.
  6. Select Print Calibration Page
  7. Press Start.
  8. When the print is complete, press Cancel to end the calibration process.
  9. When the print is complete, press Cancel to end the calibration process.
  10. Check the six color bars on the printed calibration sheet.

Kodak esp 3250 won't print black. Changed cartridge and still won't print black. Just installed new printer.

I fixed my ESP 3250 print problems by removing the cartridges and print head. Using a Q-tip and warm water, added drops of water to each of the print head ink wells until the water / ink from the wells bled thru onto a cleanex. Did this several times. Dryed the print head fairly well. Then added a drop of water to each cartridge for each color. Reasembled and ran an alignment and to my surprise, it works! I hadn't used my printer in a while, so the ink had dryed on the felt for both the print head and cartridges.......

Changing cartridge

You need to blot the bottom of the ink cartridges on a damp paper towel and look for 3 solid ink lineson the color one and a solid black from the black one. If any colors are missing, especially yellow, it won't pass alignment. Some people have been getting defective cartridges where there's no yellow. If you get good lines on the towel it should pass alignment.

Orange blinking light at cartridge icon

The Amber light is designated as the "Ink Error" light. With regards to a 960C Hewlett Packard or almost any inkjet printer, the Amber light is indicating that one of the Ink Cartridges (Tri-Color/Black) is empty, defective, unrecognizable, or just simply needs to be changed. The procedure is; lift up the front cover, look at the Black Ink Cartridge, and examine the Ink Level Window on the Cartridge, located at the center of the Cartridge. If the square window appears to be a solid Green then that means the cartridge is completely full. If it is Half Green/Half Black then it is indicating that the cartridge is half way full, and if the square window is completely Black, then the cartridge is completely empty. Also, remove and examine the Tri-Color Cartridge. If the Tri-Color Cartridge feels very light or if the Tri Colors on the bottom of the Cartridge appear to be discolored i.e. All Magenta, All Cyan, or All Yellow, then the Cartridge should immediately be changed. After replacing the Black or Tri-Color Cartridge, your printers Green Power Light will flash and allow you to continue your print job

You can also try:
Clean the cartridge and carriage contacts with a cotton swab moistened with water. If you have refilled the cartridges don't assume that they will still work. If cleaning doesn't help you may have a failed cartridge even if it is not refilled.
If you are getting a grinding noise, clean the carriage rod with alcohol and lubricate it with a few drops of Tri-Flow, available in 2 oz. squeeze bottles at cycle shops.

Added new ink cartridge. Still wont work

It needs ink in both the color and the black in order to work properly. It is just something HP does to make sure that the printer will work properly.
