4 Answers

PRODUCT KEY I bought my laptop with Vista Home Premium already installed. I have used this Laptop for over now. I recently installed skype on it and then I started having problems. I could no more connect to the internet, I therefore uninstalled the skype from the lap top but cannot still connect to the internet. The following day, I discovered the following inscriptions at the bottom right coner of the monitor of the laptop " Windows Vista (TM) Build 6000 This copy of Windows is not genuine" What I don't understand is how come I have been able to use this system for all these period till now?

About the Internet access, I never heard of Skype making those problems.
Anyway try making a restore to a previus time (just before Skype was installed)

Start- Programs-Accesories-System tools (or something like that-I have a Spanish Windows!!!)-System Restore

If that doesn't help you will have to check your internet configuration

Thanks for the suggestion, I have a genuine microsoft licence key staker underneath the laptop. My second question is; why is not not able to connect to the internet?

If the laptop was bought as new, the message can be a bogus , coming from some kind of virus. It is rare that a seller distibute a laptop with non genuine software.

To know if you own a windows valid licence check if there is Windows licence sticker on the bottom side of the laptop.
If you have no sticker with Vista serial, like this one (they are for XP yours must be for Vista):

PRODUCT KEY - a0d6c5e.gif

Then installed Windows is probably a pirate copy.

The fact that the problem has gone undetected for some times may be normal, as Microsoft controls genuinity only when you do certain updates.

Hi,
You need to activate your Vista at Microsoft site or by phone call.
The product key is on the bottom of your laptop.
It's sticker with serial number.
Good luck.

Did a clean install of my laptop. Windows does not acknowledge Windows Vista Home Premium

There will be a sticker on the laptop wi the product key. It will be in the format of xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx Sometimes the sticker will be under the battery. If the sticker is not on the laptop it was either removed, or you need to make a complaint with Walmart.

I have had to reinstall a laptop, I installed vista home basic on my daughters laptop only to find out that the product key is for vista home premium but do not have the disk what can i do

This is a guess and a risky one but you could try going into the all programs windows upgrade click on that and it will ask you to enter a product key (I"m assuming you have vista already in and running). The upgrade will download and make sure and activate after you have installed windows home premium. You'll like that edition better anyway.

Vista home pream

If your laptop came with a vista home premium installed then you can probably find the original genuine product key from the bottom of your computer or underneath the batter of your laptop.
If it didn't come with an authentic version of Vista Home Premium then you need to purchase a genuine copy of it from microsoft.
However so many people are uploading illegal copy of operating systems and product keys on sites such torrentz.com and thepiratebay.org; but I will not recommend you to download those copies and use them as it will be breaking law and thus punishable.

Hi,
I assume you are using the Vista disk that came in with the system. Even though you can see a product key on your friends computer, It would not work on your own computer because that product key is intended only for that DELL computer. The windows Vista that your friend has is an OEM copy of the operating system. The product key should match the Hardware of the OEM computer for it to work.
I suggest you get a genuine copy of the operating system for your self.
Hope this helps.

IF it came with a Vista Install, and you are installing the exact same Vista, then YES, The "Key" on the bottom, is the right one and it will absolutely work. These units have a BIOS that has a special Activation Code inside. The Windows install "Sees" that "Code" and Activates Vista. You DO need to user an ACER Version though, this can be downloaded from the "net though, as an ISO,burn that to DVD, and you can use that.

The product key on the label on the bottom of the laptop will only work for the version of Windows that was installed on that laptop.
You can purchase an upgrade Windows Vista Ultimate and to use in conjunction with the existing Vista Home Premium.

25 Character product key

You have vista Home Edition? If it came with your laptop, then check under the laptop for the 25-character key. The key is tied into the version of Vista you can use on that laptop. So, if you try to install Ultimate on a key that is for Home Premium, then it will not work.
