Go to control palen and click on Hardware and Sound. Whe you get there, and click on Power Options, and check your settings on "change the what the power buttons do"
Check all other settings under that column and observe the results. Remember to do all these settings with the Battery in. Do not disconnect the battery when doing this...

If all this fails

I think the computer's charging system has a problem. But i am sure what coulour is your blinking light. If it is Green then the system can not charghe the battery to its fullest, if it is orange or red, then the battery can no longer hold power after being charged.

Lenovo z570 not powering on

Measure the voltage at the AC Adapter plug, and see if it is within 5-10% of the rated voltage. If the voltage is not correct, then the battery will most likely not be charging, and the system will drain the battery and die in the middle of what it was doing...booting in your case.

You can tell how much voltage is remaining in your battery and if it is charging by checking the blinking of the battery status light.
Download the Hardware Maintenance Manual here:
http://download.lenovo.com/UserFiles/UserGuide/en/User%27s%20guides%20and%20manuals/Z370&Z470&Z570/Lenovo%20Z370Z470Z570%20Hardware%20Maintenance%20Manual%20V1.0.pdf
and go to page 30 and look at item 7 under battery status for blinking light meaning.
1. Blinking amber: (500ms off/1s on)
The remaining power of the battery is less than 5% of
its capacity.
2. Blinking amber: (100ms off/3.2s on)
The battery is being charged with the remaining
power between 5% and 20% of its capacity.
3. Amber: The computer is operating on battery power with the
remaining power between 5% and 20% of its
capacity

With the AC Adapter plugged in, and giving the correct voltage, If you are getting 1. Blinking Amber (light on for 1 sec, off for 1/2 second), then the battery is not being charged. Could be AC Adapter, Battery or Battery Circuit on motherboard. If the light is solid on 3. Amber, then the battery is not charging, and is draining.

Also make sure the power socket on the laptop is not loose or damaged. If it is, then it will need to be replaced.

I hope this gets you in the right direction.

Nc6000 multibay battery does not recharge

Perhaps remove the multi-bay battery, and let main battery charge all the way. Then reattach multi-bay battery, and see if it's recognized.
(Will charge)

That is AC adapter (Charger) removed, then remove multi-bay battery.
Plug AC adapter back into laptop, THEN plug AC adapter into power.

[You do Not want to unplug an AC adapter from a laptop, with the AC adapter plugged into power. Could be a power surge/voltage spike. Unplug AC adapter from power, when plugging into laptop, or unplugging from laptop ]

Main battery charged, unplug power to AC adapter, unplug AC adapter from laptop. Plug multi-bay battery in, then AC adapter.
(Then plug AC adapter into power)

Post back in a Comment.

My lenovo G550 appears not to charge when the charger is plugged in despite turning the mains power on and off to see if power is getting though and the blue neon light showing on the mains...

Hi m529,

I see you are having issues with you G550 charging.

You mentioned that the light on the charger is lit up but then it suddenly switches Off, and you also mentioned that the charge still has a light but the power is somewhat low despite of a fully lit up charger Light.

Have you tried draining the power from the system?

  • Remove the battery and the Charger or AC Adapter as well call it from the G550 then press and hold down the power button for 10-15 seconds to drain power from the system motherboard.
  • Once drained connect the AC adapter but do not connect the battery yet, then turn the Laptop ON to see if the system will power ON using the AC adapter/Charger if it powers up then there is no problem with the AC adapter/charger.
  • After testing the AC adapter if it is working power down the Laptop doing a normal shut down.
  • Once shut down or turned Off insert the Battery back in the Laptop then turn the Laptop ON using the battery only without the AC adapter/charger see if the system will turn ON using the Battery only.
  • If the Laptop powers On using the battery alone with out the AC adapter then the battery is most likely working as well on the issue.
  • Now power down the Laptop then connect the AC adapter to the Laptop with the Battery in the Laptop as well then turn the system ON again see if the problem will Occur again having the battery and the AC adapter/charger if the Problem happens with both Battery and AC adapter on the Laptop then the problem is the Motherboard, most probably the motherboard is having issues relaying power from the AC adapter to the battery and may be sent to the Depot for repairs.
I suggest that you call Lenovo for further information about your system, if you still have warranty and is still in the one year period then your system will be covered for any repairs needed - you can call @ 1 877 453 6686 for troubleshooting, you will be asked for a serial number Located underneath the Laptop on a small white sticker that states s/n meaning serial number.

I hope that this Helps.

Have a nice day,

I have a Compaq Presario R3000 with Windows XP OS. Until recently it had been working fine. Suddenly, the power went off while still connected to the AC Supply and the Laptop just went off. The battery...

1. Remove battery from the laptop. 2. Unplug the power cord from the computer. 3. Let the computer sit for a few min. 4. Leave battery out. 5. Connect power adapter to computer 6. Push power button to turn computer on. 7. If computer powers on shut down again, and put battery back in. 8. Push power button to turn computer back on (at this point battery and power adapter should be connected to the computer)
If computer powers on with power adapter with the battery out. You are having a battery issue. You would want to look into replacing the battery. If computer does not power on with just the power adapter. You are most likely having a power issue. Depending on how old the laptop is. You will either want to contact the manufacturer. Or take the computer to a computer repair shop, or consider replacing the laptop.

Camera will not turn on. Already replaced batteries.

Hi,

as per your camment you already replace the battry thats means no problem in battery Ok Firstly please follw the steps, remove memory card(if have),power resourses like AC power adaptor and batteries and wait some some just about 10 min, than reinsert the battrie and AC power adaptor, swith on the camera without memory card,if it is work and than insert ithe memory card otherwise reinsurt the memory card correctly and close the memory card door properly if the camera working fine other wise follw the third instuction that check the AC power supply, this is connect properly through input or not.connect the properly and turn on the camera and check issue is resolved
If you not find the solution thats means your camera has been damaged, need the service of camera and second resion is if you insert the battry incorrectly ,some issue
One more resion is images in memory card, firstly download ths images in system and formate the card.
Thanks,

Is your AC adapter working correctly?

If it is, then removing the battery should allow the computer to use the AC line to power the computer.

If it is not, then your battery is drained, and needs to be recharged.

Camera wont turn on even with new batteries

In order to narrow down the issue, I suggest you the following steps. 1) First of all we have to power drain the Camera. Take out the battries and unplug adaptor, now hold the power on putton ( Click Button) for a minute this will clear the static power on Camera. If this doesn't fix the issue, Than.... 2) As cam is working fine with Ac adaport and batterys are not working you have to check the cam with the new battries. If you store battries for a long time with out using them, they may result in battery drain. If this doesn't work. 3) Then it need a Physical check, where we can track if Power suply from battries are reaching till its destination or not. This is the way to narrow down the issue. Thanks you.
