Try to check your laptop keyboard maybe their is some small materials that are accidentally inserted on the keyboard, but if the unit was still beeping, you might need to ask an actual technician because maybe their is something wrong inside of your motherboard on your laptop. Better to ask the techie person on your area so that they will going to open it up.
Thanks.

Spacebar on keyboard makes my computer go to sleep mode

Sounds like your keyboard is sending the wrong signal (the one telling your PC to enter sleep mode) to your motherboard when you press space key, which (if true) would indicate it's faulty. It could also be you've contracted a virus and is playing a particularly nasty practical joke on you (let's hope that's all it does). Try connecting another keyboard to your PC and see if that helps. If it doesn't, then you'll need to clean your computer of any viruses. Try also disconnecting your mouse and see if that changes anything. If your keyboard comes with a shortcut utility software for it, run it and check there's no shortcut set on your keyboard's space bar. You've additionally specified you're not using wireless keyboard, but could you also please write what OS you're on?

When I try to log in, the keyboard will not type anything, but makes a ding sound.

Hi Glen,
Before typing your password make sure that there is a blinking line on the password field.
If it is not there, use the mouse to click there and type the password.

Hope that helps.

The most common way that we know on how to reset or clear the BIOS password is to physically remove the power from the computer by disconnecting the power plug and then removing the Cmos battery for 30 minutes from the motherboard. Another way is to reset the clear CMOS jumper on the motherboard itself. Both of the 2 methods mentioned works because most motherboards use a battery to sustain the BIOS/CMOS settings for the motherboards PROM chip. So by cutting off cmos the battery power, the BIOS/CMOS settings will be erased.

cmos battery Under the keyboard or bottom of laptop - If you are working on a laptop computer the location of the dipswitch (almost never a jumper) can be under the keyboard or on the bottom of the laptop in a compartment such as the memory compartment. Although on some motherboards the Cmos battery is soldered in Often many users will leave the administrator account alone or have other accounts with administrator rights. If you're not logging into the computer as administrator or have other accounts follow the below steps to reset your other accounts password.

Reboot the computer into Safe Mode

When logging into Safe Mode you should be prompted with an option to what account you wish to use. Select the Administrator account. If prompted for a password try pressing Enter on the keyboard for no password. If this does not work, try other passwords you may have used. If you're unable to log into the Administrator account skip to the next suggestion.

Once you've logged into the Administrator account open Control Panel and User Accounts.

My computer makes a loud beeping sound on startup and some keys don't seem to work even though they have not been damaged like my "5", "6" ,and "semi colon" buttons as...

It sounds like you have a bad keyboard. To test if your keyboard is bad you'll have to remove it from the laptop and plug in a USB keyboard. If the USB keyboard works then you'll have to replace the laptop's keyboard. Dell considers this to a CRU (customer replaceable unit).
Here's a link to your model's service manual:

Can't type: hello folks... my Dell 630m won't let me type or click unless I am holding the shift key. When I turn it on the machine makes a beeping noise (sometimes one beep, sometimes 20 ) before Ubuntu...

Sounds like a bad keyboard.
There is not so much that could be done to repair a keyboard. Disassemble the laptop, check the ribbon cable connecting the keyboard to the motherboard. If the ribbon cable is loose, tighten it. If it is tight, replace the keyboard with a new one.

Toshiba Laptop Keyboard problem

My Toshiba Satellite A45 S120 keyboard has a problem, some of the keys are not working. When you type it does noting. Sometimes when you start the computer, it continuously types the letter eeeeeeee. You can hit some keys randomly and this will stop, but if you start a program (eg. ms word) the same thing happens.
