1. Plug your laptop charger in and try to turn it on.
2. Hold the power on button down for longer.

Does this help?

HEWLITT PACKARD MONITOR HP L1950g suddenly gone dark...still powers up

There are several things that might have happened. Blown backlight, broken input port, or blown capacitor/power supply.

If your backlight is broken, you will still be able to faintly see the picture if you shine a flashlight onto the screen. This is a possibility because you're monitor may not notice that the backlight is broken so it will give you the green light.

Try another input if possible. I believe that monitor only has VGA but if it has DVI try the one you haven't been using. I doubt this is the case but it's possible. Also try another PC or different input source and even a different cable if you have one. You want to make sure the monitor is getting a solid signal.

The other possibility is that you have blown a capacitor. They often fail on monitors and TVs. If you are handy with a soldering iron it is an easy fix but you will have to open the monitor to diagnose. Check badcaps.net for specific instructions on how to do this.

Unfortunately, there is no easy fix. The easiest thing to do in this case is replace the monitor but if you have no other choice, just open it up and see if you notice anything wrong. You have nothing to lose since it's already broken and if nothing else, you'll see what's inside and potentially learn from it.

When into my computer- hewlitt packard to clean to fix the problem of the cd burner not working and now the computer will not work after I put it back together.

Before doing anything, turn off the computer, un-plug the power cord, and hit the power button. That will discharge any residual charge that the power supply retained.

If you removed any cable connections, you might have disturbed the power connection. Re-seat the cables to the motherboard. If it's an PATA (IDE) drive, it will have a wide multi-connector cable. Sometimes turning it around will ground out the connection and keep the computer from turning on. The stripe on the cable should be towards the power cable as shown in the pic linked.

The last, and possibly the most expensive is the power connection to the drive. If it went back on very hard, you might have forced it in upside down, putting 12v into the 5v, and vice-versa.

Easiest way to verify any of that is to disconnect the cables from the drive and try starting it again.

By the way, if you are working on the inside of the computer, touch the metal side, or power supply case prior to putting fingers into the electronics. The motherboard is very sensitive to static electricity, and that can fry the electronics, especially during the winter when humidity is so low. That little spark that you generate is actually about 20k volts.

Problem with my laptop

Most likely your battery is dead. Try to remove it and try to turn it on with only power supply.

My screen acts in sleep mode when computer is turned on

It is likely not a problem with the monitor, because the lights indicate that the monitor is turned on.

It may be a video card problem. Do you know if you have a video card, or if it is integrated graphics? Check all of the connections from the monitor to the computer. If you can connect the monitor to another computer and it works, then it is definitely your computer.

Very, very unlikely, but it could be that you're using a damaged cable. If you have another one on hand, try it. If not, don't go and buy one because this likely isn't the problem.

Another thing you could try is turning the computer off, unplugging the power cable (going to your computer), and hold the power button for about 30 seconds. Then plug it in again and power it up.

My packard bell s4 laptop computer screen has turned 270 degrees clockwise and i don't know how to turn it back. help please! :)

I have seen this before with some ATI graphics card. In the tray beside the clock should be an icon for the graphics card utilities. If you right click on there you should find an option to change it back.

Though, I remember navigating with a twisted screen was hard. Good luck.
