Booting problem with Toshiba satellite A100

I have Toshiba Satellite A 100 which is not booting and does not show the boot screen . I have put a user password in BIOS and in abscence of boot screen I am unable to start the system. When Power is switched -on,the display screen lits -up without any characters/logo/Cursor and the CAPS lock and other two keys blink on the key-board.The the Function keys do not respond but gives a beep sound. I have tried to run System Restore DVD but the system could not be booted probably the booting sequence is required to be changed first. Please give our advise.

I have the same problem but I have a M45-S269 laptop. I have tried to use the System Restore disk but it can't get passed the logo screen.

Many attempts to reboot but nothing. I think my hard drive has crashed.

Try hitting F8 when booting, booting to Safe Mode, and running System Restore to revert back to a time before your issue began. Post back with how it goes.

Toshiba Satellite P200 doesn't boot

Try pressing FN/F5 keys simultaneously, or the key that toggles internal/external Display. Look for the double screen Icons on the keys.

Tap the Pause Key.

Restart and press and hold F8 key when Toshiba logo appears. When the boot Menu appears, select Last Known Good Configuration.

If all else fails ther should be a reset button on the side of the LT. Consult owners Manual for location

Booting problem

Sounds like you have a "loose connection" in your lappy, thats NOT acceptable with a new unit. I suggest ya take it back to the shop and quietly "read em the riot act"... and get replacement or repair...... A repacement would be the most desireable outcome, as far as I would be concerned, Claiming under the "Manufacturers Defect" side of things. One should NOT have to "Hit" any device to make it work.. more so when new!
