I can not get any sound.

Hello,
Start your PC and press Dell/F2/F10 for setup BIOS.
Enable on board audio.
F10> hit .
When the problem will be same ,do another step.
Follow bellow.
Check the following,
  • Speakers, connecting cables and Sound Card are working fine by connecting to another computer.
  • OR
  • If the connection ok increase your volume and open the cable from the pc.
Now you will touch the stereo jack, can you can listen a sound when touch the jack. If you will not get any sound, think there is the problem in your amplifier or audio system has not any voltage. To confirm the voltage check by multi miter or can go any local Technician .If the voltage is ok, think your sound system defected and should go to Technician.

  • If your sound system is ok
  • Speaker Cable connect to an audio port (Audio/Video port in system box).
  • Ensure Volume is not in MUTE / Low (in Volume Controller).
  • Audio drivers have installed.
  • To confirm follow next step or ROLL BACK THE DRIVER
http://technet.microsoft.com/hi-in/library/bb457021%28en-us%29.aspx For another check follow the Steps:
• Go to Start>
• Control panel>
• Double click on "System" Icon> (it shows the System PropertiesWindow)
• Select "Hardware" Tab>
• Select "Device Manager" Tab> (it shows the Device Manager Window)
• Select "Sound, video and game controllers">
• Expand "+" symbol> (check the audio Codec's, Legacy Audio Drivers andothers are not in Questioned Mark (?) symbol with yellow color. If there needto install the drivers). Hope it will help you.

If you just added the sata and reformatted the drive with a new copy of the Operating System you will need to reload the sound drivers located at MSI's web site in there drivers and download section.

Problem in sound drive

Rather than using the normal fashion to install you're audio driver software, show windows the way through device manager.
Right click once on My Computer & left click Properties. Click the hardware tab & click on the device manager button. Scroll down to & left click the plus + sign next to Sound, audio and game controller. Right click once on the yellow ! point & left click on update driver. Click No in the next window & click the next button. Click Install from a list or specific loacation than click the next button. In the next window click on the green check mark next to, Search removable media (this will remove the green check mark), than click the Browse button. Use the dropdown menu to open the folder where you downloaded the sound driver software. No need to click on the setup.exe. Just pick the correct driver folder for you're operating system. Than click Ok. When finished restart you're PC. Test you're sound.
You may have this link but I'll list it anyways.
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=948&OSFullName=Windows*+XP+Professional&lang=eng&strOSs=44&submit=Go%21
If this install should fail, double check you're bios setting. Make sure the audio is enabled. If everything is correct than you're intergrated sound chip may be defective. The only other option would be to add a PCI sound card.

Good Luck!
If you still need help drop me a post.
