Question about HP Printers & Copiers

5 Answers

Since downloading Leopard a week ago much of my MacBook Pro applications have changed (deteriorated)in particular HP Photosmart Studio. This application, when opened, would fail to respond to the cursor.as a consequence of this I uninstalled HP Photosmart 3300 series (CD version 7.9.0)and then inserted that CD to re install.the process got to installation then then froze.the same occurred on three attempts and now dose not ask for owners permission to proceed after inserting the CD.would purchasing a new updated version for my Photosmart 3300 (serial number MY659B42DT045M) solve the problem? Regards, John Stewardson.

After downloading onto the hard drive, as recommended, only HP Photosmart became available and, once again, is unusable. Of other 3300 facilities, only printing(from the computer)remains available, all features available at the printer are, of course, fine. Please advise. Regards, DESPERATE- John.

Don't use the CD that came with the unit, it's for Tiger & below.

That's the only updated version (9.7.1) Photosmart Software HP provides.

"Since downloading Leopard a week ago" - is that an upgrade from Tiger to Leopard ?

This happened beacause the operative system still has installed files, registries entries, and settings that create problems with the new software installation.
An updated version of HP photosmart software may work better, but it is quite likely you still get troubles after updating software.

Here you can download the software from HP, see how it goes.

If you cannot fix the problem you will need to save all your personal data and reinstall Mac OS.

HP Photosmart C3180 All-in-One printer, Scanner, Copier will not scan with Mac OS 10.4. The button flashes for a few seconds, then stops and nothing happens. No image appears on my computer screen.

All lot of those printers came with two separate driver's disc. Make sure that you are installing the correct for the mac and not windows. If you are you can go to the hp website and do a search on there website for the driver for mac operating system.

How to use my hp photosmart C5280 All in One scanner unsing mac leopard

When you install the Full Feature software for your printer, you receive the HP Photosmart Studio imaging software and the HP Utility printer management software. You can use either of these programs to scan, and can create custom settings in both.

In general, use HP Photosmart Studio to scan pictures if you want to edit them to adjust color, crop, remove red eye, etc. Use HP Utility to set up scan tasks you use often, such as scanning to a certain folder or software application, or attaching the scanned item to an email. If your printer has a display, you also use HP Utility to designate which scan tasks should appear on the printer display menu when you start a scan from the controls on the printer.

Make sure that the printer is connected to the computer. Turn it on. Place the item with the print side down on the scanner glass.

Use HP Photosmart Studio to start a scan: Click the HP Photosmart Studio icon in the Dock. Click the Scan button. Select your HP product in the Device Name list, if necessary, and then click Continue. From the Scan Profiles screen, click either Pictures or Documents. Click Profile Settings , and then adjust any settings in the Capture , Adjust , and Page Options (for documents) or Enhance (for pictures) tabs as appropriate. Click Scan. When prompted, select Yes or No to add another page to the scan. The scan preview opens then click Return to close the preview and save the scan. Type a name for the scan in the Save As box. Click the Format drop-down list, select the file format you want, and then click Save.

Printer will not scan to computer.

You will probably have to go to this page to download the new Mac drivers for Snow Leopard to get the full functionality of your All-in-one printer back.

Print functions are generic enough where you don't need to have the most updated driver for it to work. But the scanning functionalities are more complicated.

Find the driver for your computer here:

Help! my macbook OS10.6.2 will not let me print from my HP photosmart C3180 all-in-one printer.

You may need to install the updated printer driver for Snow Leopard. Go to the HP site: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=219&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=1146331
Click the first link HP Photosmart Full Feature Software and Drivers - Mac OS X v10.6
On the subsequent page, click the download link, when prompted SAVE to your desktop or downloads folder. Then locate the downloaded file and doubleclick and run the setup. Once that's complete, go to System Preferences, click Print & Fax, click the + sign in the left column if you don't see your printer listed there. Follow the steps to add the printer.

Is there a user manual for HP Photosmart studio version 9.74?

Here is all I can find. Go here: http://www.hp.com/united-states/consumer/digital_photography/free/software/index.html?jumpid=ex_R602_go/pse and download the latest version 3.5 unless you are running Windows 2000 or Mac OSx. In that case look just below the Free Download tab for the correct version. On this same page is all you will want.

When installing the 6310 all in one printer, at a certain point I get the following message: "The application HPIO Trap Monitor quit unexpectedly. Mac OSX and other applications are not affected. Click...

There are two ways for install the Scanner using only "the driver" and using "HP Photosmart Studio Includes Support for Mac OS X v10.3, v10.4 and v10.5 (Leopard)" using the driver not include IRIS OCR software only the driver to scan and thats why say "An OCR error ocurred, couldn't create file". Installing the HP Photosmart Studio fix the problem.

Error - Scanner could not be initiliazed

I have a MacBook Pro - a year and a half old - and recently upgraded to Leopard, which caused all sorts of problems with my HP 8160 photosmart (which worked pretty well before that).  I downloaded the necessary drivers/softward from HP for Leopard and it worked okay - but than I also started getting the "scanner cannot be initialized" messages (doing scan all wireless).  Anyway, all I did was go to applications, drag the HP softward to the trash and then went back to the HP site and downloaded the software and drivers again, and ran through the simple installation process again and now my scanner works again. Don't know why - but saw the suggestion on another site and it worked for me.  Here is the link to the HP site for software/drivers - select your operating system and it will direct you to the right page.
