There is 2 size cut outs in cd/dvd tray to accomodate cd and mini cd , make sure its seated correctly before u close cd tray.
if you dont have this type drive then u have clip in type which holds cd/dvd secure.

Hi, Usually there is a button on the cover of the DVD door. Also there is a small hole to the right of centre of the DVD door that inserting a straightened out paperclip you can insert and press a release to open the tray.
Every manufacturer for DVDs add a small hole in front of the device. The hole is big enough for a normal paper clip to fit. Untwist a paper clip and gently insert it through that hole. If you do it correctly it will automatically pop the door open.
This is not a permanent fix as the physical DVD door might be bad but it will work anytime you insert the paper clip.
I have never worked with a toshiba notebook. However every DVD/CD driver has a small pin sized hole on the front of it .This hole is sort of a manual switch. If getting the drive open is urgent, insert a pin in the hole and press gently, the drive should pop open.Get your drive checked though. Most likely it's the motor which has failed.Within warranty periods it's a free replacement.
