Microphone does not work with Mac OS 10.4.11

The microphone to the "bonus" headset that comes with the Gear Head WC830I camera does not work with Mac OS 10.4.11.
I would like to find a driver or other solution that would allow the microphone to work on my G4 PowerBook. Any suggestions?

microphone doesn't work under OSX 10.4.11. The moment I switch from in-built mic to line-in, the microphone just doesn't work. I've tested the headset in other computer and works perfectly.
What can be done to solve this?

    Mr. halfwayhero:

I appreciate your try to be helpful, but I think it's totally unnecesary to say that people who have this problem are idiots. I haven't fall in any hype about what a Mac is because I work with programs for which I really need Mac and it's been like this for years. I know what my computer can do and what it can't do. I know it has bugs and problems like ANY electronic device. But I would never go back to PC in my whole life, I know that for sure. If I was doing something related to Audio/Video, I would probably have searched for the tool that is the most accurate to my needs. I just tried to use a headset in my computer and I found out it's not working, so I asked. I don't need answers like yours, insulting people.

Those who post that because it is line in you need a powered amp are idiots who have fallen into the hype that mac is.  I cannot offer a full solution only a possible solution rogue amoeba has created a program called LineIn whish certain users have seen fix their line in issue. However if it does not work you have just been screwed by one of the issues macs have (a mac is a computer... and therefore there are bugs and issues. sorry all you enthusiasts but it is true) you will either need to spend the money to get a new mic or wait for a future fix if they ever even care to. Which most likely they will not fix because everytime mac screws something up its users spend more money without even asking why.

as a side note - if it is a headset mic plug your speakers into the line in and set the default to line in and speak into the headset. you most likely will get a audio feed. tell those enthusiasts who say you need a powered mic also that they are tools.

My recorder isnt working

Good morning, afternoon, evening or night; whatever time of day you are viewing this solution. Thank you for choosing FixYa to solve your problem. The recording feature of your electronic device isn't working properly? You should try turning the volume up on the microphone so it can pick up your voice clearer when talking. If you still can't playback any recordings, check the volume settings of your device on your computer. This is located in the Control Panel (Windows) and the System Preferences (MAC OS) applications of your computer. Go into your operating system's preferences and increase the microphone volume. You may also need to select your headset device as the default recording device (Windows) or the Output Device for recording (MAC OS). If you want my opinion, I think your headset device is not set as the default recording device. If you don't have a headset as the default recording device or output recording device, you can turn the volume up to the maximum setting and you still won't be able to record anything because the computer has another device (if any microphones are installed in the PC) as its default or output recording device. That's why it's important to check your system preferences for a headset to make sure it has the proper settings. I hope you understand this solution and that you can record audio on your headset.
